5 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 21, 1983 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at 9:35 a.m., March 21, 1983, by President John E. Leszczynski, <br />with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. Joseph E. <br />Kernan present. Also present was Assistant City Attorney <br />Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a- motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried,.the minutes of the March 14, 1983, regular meeting <br />of the Board were approved. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan,, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the following items were added to the Agenda: <br />1. Combined Police/Fire Communications Center - <br />Request of Mayor to contact vendor and contractor. <br />2. Announcement of Residential Snow Clearance by <br />President John E. Leszczynski. <br />3. Appointment of Board Member to serve on committee <br />regarding the location of the Violin Woman sculpture. <br />APPROVE INTENDED USE OF REVENUE SHARING FUNDS - <br />HOWARD PARK SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER OPERATIONS FOR 1983 ($25,000.00) <br />This was the date set for holding public hearing on the proposed <br />use of revenue sharing funds in the amount of $25,000.00 during <br />the calendar year 1983. The appropriation will be used for <br />Howard Park Senior Citizen Center operations for 1983. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. Mr. Leszczynski advised the Board that Mr. Julius <br />Rupp of the Harvest House, by telephone, spoke in favor of the <br />use of Revenue Sharing funds for the Howard.Park Senior Citizen <br />Center and commended the administration for their thoughtfulness <br />in requesting this appropriation. In accordance with guidelines <br />adopted for such use of.Revenue Sharing funds, information about <br />this public hearing was forwarded to the following senior citizen <br />groups with the request that the notice be posted: Foster <br />Grandparents, Hansel Neighborhood Center, REAL Services, Retired <br />Senior Volunteer Program, Senior Citizens Group of LaSalle Park, <br />Harvest House Centers and Howard Park Senior Citizens' Center. <br />There was no one present to speak against the proposed expenditure. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the public hearing on this appropriation was closed. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded.by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, the Clerk was instructed to forward a favorable <br />recommendation on this appropriation to the Controller's <br />office and the City Clerk's office along with minutes of the <br />public hearing on this matter. <br />APPROVE INTENDED USE OF REVENUE SHARING FUNDS - <br />ANNUAL SUMMER CLEAN-UP PROGRAM ($41,800.00) <br />This was the date set for holding a public hearing on the <br />proposed use of Revenue Sharing Funds in the amount of <br />$41,800.00 during the calendar year 1983. The appropriation <br />will be used for the annual Summer Clean-up Program conducted <br />by the Department of Code Enforcement. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and <br />the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. In <br />accordance with guidelines adopted for such use of Revenue <br />Sharing Funds, information about this public hearing was forwarded <br />to the following senior citizen groups with the request that the <br />notice be posted: Foster Grandparents, Hansel Neighborhood <br />Center, REAL Services, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Senior, <br />
