REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 21, 1983 <br />25 <br />1 <br />1 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at 9:35 a.m., February 21, 1983, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski and Mr. Joseph E. Kernan <br />present. Mr. Richard L. Hill was not in attendance. Also <br />present was Assistant City Attorney Eugenia S. Schwartz. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr." Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the minutes of the February 14, 1983, regular <br />meeting of the Board were approved. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed <br />bids for the sale of approximately seven (7) abandoned vehicles, <br />five (5) of which are valued at over One Hundred Dollars <br />($100.00) and all of which have been stored at the Hurwich <br />Impoundment Lot, 1610 Circle Avenue. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Vehicle No. <br />Steve & Gene's <br />3109 S. Following that review, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the follow- <br />ing bids were awarded: <br />Steve & Gene's - Vehicle No. 2 $21.75 <br />7 20.75 <br />$42.50 <br />Hurwich Iron Co. - Vehicle No. 1 $25.26 <br />4 25.26 <br />5 25.26 <br />6, 19.99 <br />$95.77 <br />Mel's Body Shop - Vehicle No. 3 27.50 <br />TOTAL: $165.77 <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BID - SALE OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY <br />(203 & 207 NORTH JOHNSON STREET) <br />On February 7, 1983, the Board received a tie -bid of $495.00 <br />from The O'Brien Corporation and the Greater South Bend <br />Missionary Baptist Church. At that time, the Clerk was <br />instructed to notify the two (2) tie bidders and request a <br />counter-offer for the Board's review. At that time, it was <br />noted that the legal description used for the appraisal was <br />incorrect and a re -appraisal was made. Mr. Leszczynski <br />stated that the new offering price of the property is <br />$470.00. On this date, the following bids were received: <br />
