<br />Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and
<br />present. Also present was Assistant
<br />V. Pfotenhauer.
<br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS. MEETING APPROVED
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the minutes of the February 7, 1983, regular meeting
<br />of the Board were approved.
<br />FILING OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT MANDATE
<br />(RIVERSIDE DRIVE - RIVERSIDE PLACE SANITARY SEWER PROJECT)
<br />Mr. Leszczynski presented to the Board the mandate received
<br />from the St. Joseph County Health Department regarding a
<br />health hazard in the Riverside Drive -Riverside Place area,
<br />said mandate ordering the construction and installation of
<br />an adequate sanitation system in the area. The mandate is
<br />as follows:
<br />O R D E R
<br />WHEREAS, a health hazard presently exists within
<br />the City of South Bend, Indiana in the 1800 and
<br />1900 blocks of Riverside Drive, also known as
<br />St. Mary's View Addition, St. Mary's View Replat
<br />and lots 262, 263, 278, 279, 280, 281, 282, 285, and
<br />WHEREAS, it has been determined that an unsanitary
<br />and unhealthful condition exists which endangers the
<br />public health in that said described area does not
<br />have adequate facilities for the safe and proper
<br />disposal of human waste and excrement, and
<br />WHEREAS, the health officer of St. Joseph County
<br />is empowered by law to order the abatement of any
<br />condition which may transmit, generate or promote
<br />disease, and
<br />WHEREAS, I as health officer of St. Joseph County
<br />is empowered by law to order the abatement of any
<br />condition which may transmit, generate or promote
<br />disease, and
<br />WHEREAS, I as health officer of St. Joseph County,
<br />Indiana have determined that the conditions des-
<br />cribed above, at the locations mentioned, may
<br />transmit,generate or promote disease,
<br />IT IS NOW ORDERED that the City of South Bend,
<br />Indiana shall, forthwith, undertake with all due
<br />dispatch, all necessary and proper steps for the
<br />construction and installation of an adequate
<br />sanitation system in the area described above,
<br />which system shall meet with all specifications,
<br />rules, regulations, and laws pertaining to the
<br />construction of sanitation systems applicable
<br />to this community.
