A 2
REGULAR MEETING
JANUARY 31, 1983
Mr. Leszczynski noted that Metal Resources Corporation had returned
the bid proposal form and had declined to bid at this time.
After reading all bids received, Mr. Leszczynski informed the
Board that there was a tie bid between Rubin's Auto Parts, Inc.
and Kowalski Brothers for vehicle No. 7 in the amount of $52.00.
Mr. Hill advised Ms. Jerelyn O'Connor, Assistant Director of the
Department of Code Enforcement to telephone these two bidders and
request a new verbal bid to break the tie. Upon a motion made by
Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above bids
were referred to the Department of Code Enforcement Office for
immediate review and recommendation in order that an award could
be made prior to adjournment of the meeting. Following that
review, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr.
Hill and carried, the following bids were awarded:
Hurwich Iron Co.
- Vehicle No. 2
5
8
9
10
11
John Massingill - Vehicle No. 1
3
Rubin's Auto Parts - Vehicle No. 7
$12.00
16.00
16.00
12.00
12.00
20.00
$26.00
18.00
$65.00
TOTAL:
$88.00
44.00
$197.00
RADIO COMMUNICATIONS CONSOLES AND RELATED EQUIPMENT
BID REJECTED - KUSTOM QUALITY ELECTRONICS
Mr. Leszczynski advised that bids for radio communications
consoles and related equipment were opened on January 24, 1983.
At that time it was noted that the bid of Kustom Quality
Electronics contained a bid bond drawn on an out-of-state
surety company and that Kustom Quality Electronics was given
forty-eight (48) hours to provide proper bid security. The
bid was read and accepted based on that condition. Because
Kustom Quality Electronics chose not to comply with this
request, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by
Mr. Hill and carried, the above bid was rejected.
RIVERSIDE SANITARY SEWER PROJECT
Mr. Leszczynski stated that the presentation to the Board of
an Improvement Resolution in regard to this project shall be
stricken from the Board's agenda at this time. He advised
that the Board is waiting for an Order from the St. Joseph
County Health Department that would set this project in motion.
That order has not yet been received. Upon a motion made by
Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the matter
was stricken from the agenda at this time pending receipt of an
Order from the St. Joseph County Health Department.
APPROVE CONTRACT FOR FIRE ALARM ASSISTANCE -
UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME
Assistant Fire Chief Richard Switalski advised the Board that
this is an annual contract between the City and the University
of Notre Dame for coordination of fire dispatching procedures.
The University has installed within the Alarm Office of the
South Bend Fire Department a readout device which would provide
a numerical display of alarms generated at the University in
addition to the location of the fire alarm. The contract
provides that the University shall pay to the City the sum of
One Hundred and Ten Dollars ($110.00) per month as a service fee
for the period of February 9, 1983 to February 8, 1984. Upon a
motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the
above contract was approved.
1
