02 REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 17, 1983 REQUEST TO ERECT CANOPY REFERRED (MORNINGSIDE HOTEL) A request was received from City Awning of South Bend for permission to erect an entrance canopy across the city side- walk at the Morningside Hotel at Colfax and Williams Streets. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Department of Code Enforcement for review and recommendation. APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 - BATES A14D ROGERS CONSTRUCTION (COLFAX AVENUE BRIDGE PROJECT) Mr. Leszczynski advised that Bates and Rogers Construction had submitted Change Order No. 2 for the Colfax Bridge Repair Project. The Change Order states that revised Pier 4 founda- tion shall consist of replacing the planned H piles with 14' steel pile shells. This change results in a decreased cost of $89,620 for a net decreased cost of $62,620.00. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above Change Order No. 2 was approved. APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director of the Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of approximately eleven (11) abandoned vehicles, six (6) of which were valued at over $100.00, and all of which were being stored at the Hurwich Impoundment Lot, 1610 Circle Avenue. It was noted that all vehicles had been stored more than the required thirty (30) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft, and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was approved and a date of Janaury 31, 1983, was established for the receipt of sealed bids. APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATIONS Rubbish and Garbage Removal License applications were received from: Horace Woods, 527 East Ohio, South Bend Oscar Cobb, 122 Campeau, South Bend John McClain, 110 South Iowa, South Bend Mr. Leszczynski stated that the completed Solid Waste Vehicle Inspection Reports were attached to the above applications and all were found to be in compliance. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above license applications were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance. FILE ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS A list containing seventy-one (71) lots ordered cleaned by the Director of the Department of Code Enforcement was submitted. It was noted that property owners had been advised to clean up the lots and had failed to do so. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the environmental list was filed. APPROVE HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the following thirty-seven (37) handicapped parking permits were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance: 1
