02 <br />REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 17, 1983 <br />REQUEST TO ERECT CANOPY REFERRED (MORNINGSIDE HOTEL) <br />A request was received from City Awning of South Bend for <br />permission to erect an entrance canopy across the city side- <br />walk at the Morningside Hotel at Colfax and Williams Streets. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Department of Code Enforcement for review <br />and recommendation. <br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 - BATES A14D ROGERS <br />CONSTRUCTION (COLFAX AVENUE BRIDGE PROJECT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Bates and Rogers Construction had <br />submitted Change Order No. 2 for the Colfax Bridge Repair <br />Project. The Change Order states that revised Pier 4 founda- <br />tion shall consist of replacing the planned H piles with 14' <br />steel pile shells. This change results in a decreased cost <br />of $89,620 for a net decreased cost of $62,620.00. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above Change Order No. 2 was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director of the Department of Code <br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale <br />of approximately eleven (11) abandoned vehicles, six (6) of <br />which were valued at over $100.00, and all of which were <br />being stored at the Hurwich Impoundment Lot, 1610 Circle <br />Avenue. It was noted that all vehicles had been stored more <br />than the required thirty (30) days, identification checks <br />had been run for auto theft, and the owners and lienholders <br />notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was approved and a date <br />of Janaury 31, 1983, was established for the receipt of sealed <br />bids. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATIONS <br />Rubbish and Garbage Removal License applications were received <br />from: <br />Horace Woods, 527 East Ohio, South Bend <br />Oscar Cobb, 122 Campeau, South Bend <br />John McClain, 110 South Iowa, South Bend <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the completed Solid Waste Vehicle <br />Inspection Reports were attached to the above applications <br />and all were found to be in compliance. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above <br />license applications were approved and referred to the Deputy <br />Controller's Office for issuance. <br />FILE ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS <br />A list containing seventy-one (71) lots ordered cleaned by the <br />Director of the Department of Code Enforcement was submitted. <br />It was noted that property owners had been advised to clean <br />up the lots and had failed to do so. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />environmental list was filed. <br />APPROVE HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the following thirty-seven (37) handicapped <br />parking permits were approved and referred to the Deputy <br />Controller's Office for issuance: <br />1 <br />
