REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 13. 1982 <br />6,9 <br />I <br />1 <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT AND ADDENDUMS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Community Development Depart- <br />ment had submitted for Board approval a contract with Madison <br />Center for the operation of a rape crisis counseling program <br />for victims of rape and sexual assault in Community Develop- <br />ment target areas at a total budget cost of $6,875.00. Ms. <br />Beth Leonard of the Community Development staff advised <br />that the contract was a continuation of a previously -funded <br />program. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. <br />Hill and carried, the above contract was approved. <br />The following addendums were submitted for Board approval: <br />Department of Redevelopment - Addendum No. 1 <br />Increases budget amount by $50,000.00 to $200,000.00 <br />for East Bank development activity.. <br />Neighborhood Code Enforcement Addendum No. 3 <br />Budget to remain at $74,797.00 with personnel costs <br />being decreased by $4,000.00 and transferred to <br />non -personnel costs for purchase of a truck for <br />the neighborhood clean-up activity. <br />Department of Economic Development and Redevelopment = Add. No. 2 <br />Extends original -timetable to March 31, 1983, for <br />the Monroe/Sample-East Bank redevelopment project. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above addendums were approved. <br />APPROVE ADVERTISING FOR BIDS - AUTOMOBILES AND <br />COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT <br />Mr. Leszczynski requested permission to cause legal advertising <br />for the receipt of sealed bids for the purchase of nine new <br />automobiles to replace existing vehicles and for communications <br />consoles and related equipment necessary to combine the police. <br />and fire communications operations. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request <br />was approved. <br />ACCEPT OFFER TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - 634 KEASEY <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that, on November 1, 1982, the Board <br />had received a bid from Mrs. Bettie Williams for the Durchase <br />of a city -owned lot located at 634 Keasey Street. He'noted <br />that the city's offering price for the lot was $215.00, and <br />Mrs. Williams had submitted a bid of only $125.00. In <br />accordance with state statutes and since Mrs. Williams' bid <br />was less than the city's offering price, the Clerk had been <br />instructed to notify abutting property owners of the city's <br />intent to sell the property.. The Clerk advised that no <br />other offers had been received. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, Mrs. Williams' <br />offer in the amount of $125.00 was accepted and the matter <br />referred to the Legal Department for the preparation of the <br />necessary purchase agreement. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY REFERRED - <br />203 AND 207 N. JOHNSON <br />A request was received from Susie Jackson, a representative <br />of the Greater South Bend Missionary Baptist Church, 215 <br />North Johnson, inquiring into the purchase of the city -owned <br />lots located at 203 and 207 North Johnson Street. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the request was referred to various city agencies <br />for a determination as to whether or not the city need <br />retain the lots for any reason. <br />
