REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 25, 1982 <br />13 <br />1 <br />0 <br />1 <br />OPENING OF BIDS - CONCRETE REPAIRS (JEFFERSON ST. PARKING GARAGE) <br />This was the date set for receiving sealed bids for the concrete <br />repair and restoration of the Jefferson Street Parking Garage. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the <br />South Bend Tribune and the Tri=County News which were found <br />to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly <br />read: <br />William H. Kelly Co. <br />5970 S. Archer Street <br />Chicago, Illinois 60638 <br />$147,766.00 <br />Bid was signed by L. Fred DeMarais, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and'a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Mrs. Pfotenhauer advised that the 5% bid bond submitted by the <br />William H. Kelly Company was drawn on an out-of-state surety. <br />She stated that an out-of-state bidder must submit a certified <br />check or a bid bond drawn on an Indiana surety according to <br />state statutes. Mr. Kernan stated that the Board's policy in <br />the past has been to allow the bidder a 48-hour period to submit <br />the proper security if the correct amount of security was <br />submitted but the bond was drawn on an out-of-state surety. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded'by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, a 48-hour period was given to allow William H. <br />Kelly Co. to submit the proper bid. security if it wished the <br />city to consider its bid. <br />Slatile Roofing & Sheet Metal Bid was signed by Gerald E. <br />1703 S. Ironwood Dr. Longerot,.non-collusion affidavit <br />South Bend, Ind. 46613 was in order, and a 5% bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />$145,815.00 <br />Casteel Construction Corp. <br />23086 W. Ireland Road <br />South Bend, Indiana 46624 <br />$195,910.50 <br />Bid was signed by R. V. Casteel, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and*a 57/0 bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Ziolkowski Construction, Inc. Bid was signed by Ben Ziolkowski, <br />1005 S. Lafayette non -collusion affidavit was in <br />South Bend, Ind. 46624 order, and a.5io bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />$176,151.00 <br />William Hach & Asso.c., Inc. Bid was signed by William Hach, <br />220 Deerpath Rd. non -collusion affidavit was in <br />Bensenville, Ill. 60106 order, and a certified check in <br />$122,763.25 the amount of $8,000.00 was submitted. <br />Monson Nicholas, Inc. <br />600 E. Enterprise Dr. <br />Oak Brook, Ill. 60521 <br />$158,800.00 <br />F. E. Gates, d.b.a Structural <br />Concrete Services <br />6103 Guion Rd. <br />Indianapolis, Ind. 46254 <br />$108,554.25 <br />Bid was signed by Jack F. Monson, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and a certified check in <br />the amount.of $8,000.00 was submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Robert E. <br />Johnston, non -collusion affidavit <br />was in order, and a 5% bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, the above bids were referred to the Engineering <br />Department for review and recommendation. <br />Prior to adjournment of the meeting, a bid was received from <br />TSA Construction Services, 43 East Water Street, St. Paul, <br />Minnesota 55107, said bid being received in at 10:30 a.m. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by.Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the bid was rejected because it was received an hour <br />past the legally -advertised bid deadline of 9:30 a.m. <br />
