REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 25, 1982 13 1 0 1 OPENING OF BIDS - CONCRETE REPAIRS (JEFFERSON ST. PARKING GARAGE) This was the date set for receiving sealed bids for the concrete repair and restoration of the Jefferson Street Parking Garage. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri=County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: William H. Kelly Co. 5970 S. Archer Street Chicago, Illinois 60638 $147,766.00 Bid was signed by L. Fred DeMarais, non -collusion affidavit was in order and'a 5% bid bond was submitted. Mrs. Pfotenhauer advised that the 5% bid bond submitted by the William H. Kelly Company was drawn on an out-of-state surety. She stated that an out-of-state bidder must submit a certified check or a bid bond drawn on an Indiana surety according to state statutes. Mr. Kernan stated that the Board's policy in the past has been to allow the bidder a 48-hour period to submit the proper security if the correct amount of security was submitted but the bond was drawn on an out-of-state surety. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded'by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, a 48-hour period was given to allow William H. Kelly Co. to submit the proper bid. security if it wished the city to consider its bid. Slatile Roofing & Sheet Metal Bid was signed by Gerald E. 1703 S. Ironwood Dr. Longerot,.non-collusion affidavit South Bend, Ind. 46613 was in order, and a 5% bid bond was submitted. $145,815.00 Casteel Construction Corp. 23086 W. Ireland Road South Bend, Indiana 46624 $195,910.50 Bid was signed by R. V. Casteel, non -collusion affidavit was in order, and*a 57/0 bid bond was submitted. Ziolkowski Construction, Inc. Bid was signed by Ben Ziolkowski, 1005 S. Lafayette non -collusion affidavit was in South Bend, Ind. 46624 order, and a.5io bid bond was submitted. $176,151.00 William Hach & Asso.c., Inc. Bid was signed by William Hach, 220 Deerpath Rd. non -collusion affidavit was in Bensenville, Ill. 60106 order, and a certified check in $122,763.25 the amount of $8,000.00 was submitted. Monson Nicholas, Inc. 600 E. Enterprise Dr. Oak Brook, Ill. 60521 $158,800.00 F. E. Gates, d.b.a Structural Concrete Services 6103 Guion Rd. Indianapolis, Ind. 46254 $108,554.25 Bid was signed by Jack F. Monson, non -collusion affidavit was in order, and a certified check in the amount.of $8,000.00 was submitted. Bid was signed by Robert E. Johnston, non -collusion affidavit was in order, and a 5% bid bond was submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the above bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation. Prior to adjournment of the meeting, a bid was received from TSA Construction Services, 43 East Water Street, St. Paul, Minnesota 55107, said bid being received in at 10:30 a.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by.Mr. Kernan and carried, the bid was rejected because it was received an hour past the legally -advertised bid deadline of 9:30 a.m.
