REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 17, 1984 455 1 1 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:35 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 1984, by President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. Michael L. Vance present. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEXT MEETING DATE Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board of Public Works will not meet on December 24, 1984, as all City offices will be closed. The next regular meeting of the Board will be held on Monday, December 31, 1984 at 9:30 a.m. APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill, and carried, the minutes of the December 10, 1984, regular meeting of the Board were approved. APPROVE READVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS - APPROXIMATELY THIRTY-FIVE (35) VEHICLES FOR THE 1985 POLICE AUTO FLEET This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to vehicles. Mr. Leszczynski advised that because specifications for the above referred to vehicles were mailed late, it is his recommendation that the Notice to Bidders be readvertised in order to give vendors more time to prepare their bids. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the Notice to Bidders for thirty-five (35) vehicles for the 1985 Police Auto Fleet will be readvertised with a new bid opening date of January 7, 1985. OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - 1614 HIGH STREET, 323 CUSHING AND 809 OAK STREET Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed bids for the sale of City -owned property at 1614 High Street, 323 Cushing and 809 Oak Street. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were received: 1614 HIGH STREET Mr. Leszczynski advised that one bid has been received from Mr. James D. Davis, 814 East Indiana Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $200.00. It was noted that this property has an appraisal value of $320.00. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the offer of $200.00 for the property at 1614 High Street was accepted and the matter referred to the City Attorney's office for the drafting of the appropriate Purchase Agreement. 323 CUSHING STREET Mr. Leszczynski advised that one (1) bid has been received from Mr. Melvin B. Humphrey, 739 West Washington, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $135.00. It was noted that the property has an appraisal value of $200.00. Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the offer of $135.00 for this property was accepted and the matter referred to the City Attorney's office for the drafting of the appropriate Purchase Agreement. As Mr. Humphrey is an employee of the City of South Bend Engineering Department, Mr. Leszczynski abstained from voting on this matter.
