REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 17, 1984 <br />455 <br />1 <br />1 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:35 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 1984, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. <br />Michael L. Vance present. Also present was Assistant City <br />Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. <br />ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEXT MEETING DATE <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Board of Public Works will not <br />meet on December 24, 1984, as all City offices will be closed. <br />The next regular meeting of the Board will be held on Monday, <br />December 31, 1984 at 9:30 a.m. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill, and <br />carried, the minutes of the December 10, 1984, regular meeting of <br />the Board were approved. <br />APPROVE READVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS - APPROXIMATELY THIRTY-FIVE (35) <br />VEHICLES FOR THE 1985 POLICE AUTO FLEET <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for <br />the above referred to vehicles. Mr. Leszczynski advised that <br />because specifications for the above referred to vehicles were <br />mailed late, it is his recommendation that the Notice to Bidders <br />be readvertised in order to give vendors more time to prepare <br />their bids. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the Notice to Bidders for <br />thirty-five (35) vehicles for the 1985 Police Auto Fleet will be <br />readvertised with a new bid opening date of January 7, 1985. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - 1614 <br />HIGH STREET, 323 CUSHING AND 809 OAK STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the <br />receiving and opening of sealed bids for the sale of City -owned <br />property at 1614 High Street, 323 Cushing and 809 Oak Street. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bids were received: <br />1614 HIGH STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that one bid has been received from <br />Mr. James D. Davis, 814 East Indiana Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, <br />in the amount of $200.00. It was noted that this property has an <br />appraisal value of $320.00. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the offer of $200.00 for the <br />property at 1614 High Street was accepted and the matter referred <br />to the City Attorney's office for the drafting of the appropriate <br />Purchase Agreement. <br />323 CUSHING STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that one (1) bid has been received from <br />Mr. Melvin B. Humphrey, 739 West Washington, South Bend, Indiana, <br />in the amount of $135.00. It was noted that the property has an <br />appraisal value of $200.00. Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, <br />seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the offer of $135.00 for this <br />property was accepted and the matter referred to the City <br />Attorney's office for the drafting of the appropriate Purchase <br />Agreement. As Mr. Humphrey is an employee of the City of South <br />Bend Engineering Department, Mr. Leszczynski abstained from voting <br />on this matter. <br />
