429 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 19, 1984 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:40 a.m. on Monday, November 19, 1984, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, and Mr. Richard L. Hill <br />present. Board member Michael L. Vance was not in attendance. <br />Also present was Assistant City Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski, and <br />carried, the minutes of the November 13, 1984, regular meeting of <br />the Board were approved. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY - 1614 <br />HIGH STREET, 323 CUSHING STREET AND 809 OAK STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the <br />receiving and opening of sealed bids for the sale of City -owned <br />property at 1614 High Street, 323 Cushing Street and 809 Oak <br />Street. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in <br />the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found <br />to be sufficient. The following bids were received: <br />1614 HIGH STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that one bid has been <br />received from Mr. James. D. Davis, 814 East Indiana <br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $200.00. <br />Mr. Davis advised that he owns two (2) properties <br />across the alley from the vacant City -owned property <br />at 1614 High Street. It was noted that the property <br />has an appraisal value of $320.00. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the offer of $200.00 for the property at <br />1614 High Street was accepted and the matter <br />referred to the City Attorney's office for the <br />drafting of the appropriate Purchase Agreement. <br />323 CUSHING STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that one (1) bid has been <br />received from Mr. Melvin B. Humphrey, 739 Washington <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $135.00. <br />It was noted that the property has an appraisal value of <br />$200.00. It was further noted that Mr. Humphrey is an <br />employee of the City of South Bend Engineering Department <br />but no conflict exists in his bidding on this property as <br />he is an adjacent property owner. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the <br />offer of $135.00 for the property at 323 Cushing Street <br />was accepted and the matter referred to the City <br />Attorney's office for the drafting of the appropriate <br />Purchase Agreement. <br />809 OAK STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that one (1) bid has been <br />received from Mr. Melvin B. Humphrey, 739 Washington <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $85.00. It <br />was noted that the property has an appraisal value of <br />$130.00. It was further noted that Mr. Humphrey is an <br />employee of the City of South Bend Engineering Department <br />but no conflict exists in his bidding on this property as <br />he is an adjacent property owner. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the <br />offer of $85.00 for the property at 809 Oak Street was <br />accepted and the matter referred to the City Attorney's <br />office for the drafting of the appropriate Purchase <br />Agreement. <br />
