Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Vance, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the above <br />bid was awarded and the Contract approved, subject to the filing <br />of the appropriate insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and <br />Materials Payment Bond. <br />AWARD BID AND APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - CONSTRUCTION OF <br />CITY CEMETERY STORAGE BUILDING (REAR OF 214 NORTH ELM STREET) <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau <br />Public <br />of Construction, recommended that the Board accept the <br />low bid of Kaser-Spraker Construction, Inc., 52487 W. State <br />Road 2, P.O. Box 3605, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of <br />$62,524.00. It was noted that bids for this project were <br />opened by the Board on September 24, 1984. Mr. Leszczynski <br />further advised that in accordance with the award of this bid, <br />a Contract in said amount was being submitted for Board approval. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above bid was awarded and the Contract approved, <br />and the appropriate insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and <br />Materials Payment Bond as submitted were filed. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF DIVISION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TO <br />CONDUCT PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING IMPACT AREA KNOWN AS <br />CHAPIN NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION DISTRICT <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Colleen Rosenfeld, Director, <br />Division of Community Development, advised that in August of <br />1984, the Common Council passed Ordinance No. 7372-84 establishing <br />local criteria for designation of Community Development Block <br />Grant Funds. The ordinance provides that "upon receipt of a <br />resolution from the Board of Public Works recommending the <br />designation of an area as an impact area under this Article, <br />together with copies of documents considered by the Board in <br />making its finding, the Common Council shall consider the <br />area and shall determine whether use of CDBG funds within the <br />area will be of public use and benefit and in furtherance of <br />the City's plan for use of such funds." <br />At this time, the Division of Community Development is request- <br />ing that the Board of Public Works conduct a public hearing on <br />October 22, 1984, to consider the designation of an Impact Area <br />known as the Chapin Neighborhood Revitalization District with <br />boundaries being both sides of Jefferson Street (north), both <br />sides of Scott Street (east) the north side of Western (south) <br />and both sides of Laurel (west). <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above request was approved and a public hearing on <br />this matter scheduled for 9:30 a.m., October 22, 1984. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - JANITORIAL <br />SERVICES - POLICE DEPARTMENT - 1985 <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Charles T. Hurley, recom- <br />mended that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for <br />janitorial services for the Police Department for 1985 at the <br />main station located at 701 West Sample Street and three (3) <br />police substations located at 1716 South Michigan Street, <br />303 East LaSalle Street and 220 West Olive Street. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the above request was approved. <br />
