370 <br />REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 17, 1984 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:35 a.m. on Monday, September 17, 1984, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. <br />Michael L. Vance present. Also present was Assistant City Attorney <br />Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the minutes of the September 10, 1984, regular meeting of the <br />Board were approved. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BID - CLEANING AND PAINTING OF THE <br />WESTERN/WALNUT VIADUCT PROJECT <br />This was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. 'It was noted that bids for <br />this project were originally requested on August 27, 1984, but since <br />no bids were received at that time, the project was readvertised with <br />the new bid opening date of today. The following bid was opened and <br />publicly read: <br />J.L. MANTA, INC. Bid was signed by Michael Chakos, <br />7757 South Chicago Avenue Treasurer, and I.M. Fox, Secretary, <br />Chicago, Illinois 60619 Non -Collusion Affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% Bid Bond was <br />submitted. <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $23,590.00 <br />As this was the only bid received, and the bid amount submitted was <br />below the Engineer's Estimate for this project, upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above <br />bid was accepted and the project awarded to J.L. Manta, Inc. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the sale of approximately fourteen (14) abandoned vehicles, <br />ten (10) of which are valued at over $100.00 and all of which <br />have been stored at South Bend Auto Parts, 1802 South Main Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient.
