2'7' <br />REGULAR MEETING JULY 9, 1984 <br />July 21, 1984 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Ms. Bunton further indicated <br />that less than fifty (50) individuals will be participating and <br />they will assume responsibility for street crossings, etc. <br />therefore no police escort is required. The purpose of the <br />Walk-A-Thon is to raise funds to renovate a house on Tu.tt Street <br />belonging to Maranatha Temple. This house will be used for a <br />refuge for people with problems (alcoholics, etc.) and will be <br />a non-profit project as part of their ministry. The route <br />submitted with the request indicates that the Walk-A-Thon will <br />begin at the Temple, proceeding south down Michigan Street to <br />Colfax, to Main,.to Park Lane, to Lafayette Boulevard around <br />Leeper Park to East Marion, Michigan Street and finishing at <br />the Temple. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was referred to <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department <br />Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND SHRINE CLUB, INC. TO <br />BARRICADE SIDEWALKS AT 126 WEST MARION STREET FOR <br />ANNUAL CORN ROAST - AUGUST 15, 1984 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the above referred to request <br />submitted by the South Bend Shrine Club, Inc. on July 2, 1984, <br />has been reviewed by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and <br />approval is recommended. It was noted that the appropriate <br />$1,000,000.00 Certificate of Insurance naming the City of <br />South Bend as an additional insured during this event is in <br />order and on file in the office of the Board. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the <br />above recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the following three (3) handicapped parking permit <br />applications were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's <br />office for issuance of permits: <br />Frank Golino, 3209 Bentley, S.B. <br />Brothers of Holy Cross, Dujarie House Infirmary, <br />P.O Box 706 S.B. <br />Margaret Brown, 53139 Ironwood, S.B. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of one -hundred sixty-one (161) properties cleaned from <br />July 2, 1984 to July 6, 1984 was submitted. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, <br />the report, as submitted, was filed. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />City Controller Michael L. Vance submitted to the Board Claim <br />Docket No. 12572 through Claim Docket 12983 and recommended <br />approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mr. Vance and carried, the claims were approved and the report filed. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being <br />motion made <br />the meeting <br />no further business to come before the Board, upon a <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />adjourned at 10:03 a.m. <br />J hLesz z n ,kip <br />hard L.
