255 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 2. '1984 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at 9:31 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 1984, by President E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and <br />Mr. Michael L. Vance present. Also present was Assistant City <br />Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer, <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by. Mr. Leszczynski, seconded.by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, a request to conduct a block party on July 4, 1984 was <br />added to the agenda. <br />.PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that on July 9, 1984, the Board of <br />Public Works will conduct a public hearing regarding the <br />request of Heritage Cablevision to increase established maximum <br />rates. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, <br />the minutes of the June 22, 1984 Special Meeting of the Board, <br />June 25, 1984.regular meeting of the Board and June 25, 1984 <br />reconvened meeting of the regular meeting of the Board were <br />approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - ETHANOL PLANT CONCRETE SIDEWALK <br />FOR THE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING PROJECT <br />This was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed <br />bids for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and <br />the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The <br />following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />RIETH-RILEY CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. Bid was signed by Robert L. <br />P.O. Box 1775 McCormick, Superintendent, <br />South Bend, Indiana 46634 Non -Collusion Affidavit was <br />in order and a 5% Bid Bond <br />was submitted. <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $59,796.56 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above bid was referred to the Engineering Department <br />for review and recommendation. <br />AWARD BID - ONE (1) SMALL GRADER AND ONE (1) BACKHOE LOADER <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Sean Watt, Director, Division <br />of Transportation, indicated that he has reviewed the bids <br />received on June 25, 1984 for the above referred to equipment <br />and recommends the following awards be made: <br />One (1) Model 680H Case Loader/Backhoe <br />to MCB-Contractors Equipment Company, <br />Inc., 1521 West Jefferson Street, Plymouth, <br />Indiana in the amount of $37,133.00, <br />including trades. <br />One (1) Model AB6905 Athey Blade to Reid - <br />Holcomb Company, Inc., 333 West Coliseum <br />Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana in the <br />amount of $24,470.00, including trades. <br />Mr. Watt advised that these bids are lowest and best meeting <br />specifications. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the bids awarded. <br />
