245 <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 11, 1984 <br />APPROVE CONTRACTOR'S BOND <br />Mr. Melvin B. Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that <br />the Contractor's Bond for James Wallace d/b/a Custom Builders <br />be approved retroactive to June 5, 1984. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above <br />Contractor's Bond was approved. <br />APPROVE HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the following three (3) handicapped parking permit <br />applications were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller' <br />office for issuance of permits: <br />Ada C. Cotton, 1323 N. llth St., Niles, <br />Irene Kuri, 346 N. Ironwood, S.B. <br />Dominic Gargano, 732 Riverside Ct., S.B. <br />FILING OF STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT <br />The report submitted to the Board indicated a total of twenty-nine <br />(29) outages for the period May 11, 1984 to June 4, 1984. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded :by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the report was filed. <br />Additionally, Mr. Leszczynski advised that the procedure for the <br />reporting of street light outages has been changed and would <br />recommend that all persons report outages directly to the City <br />Engineer's office. The City Engineer's office, in turn, will <br />report the outages directly to Indiana and Michigan Electric <br />Company. Mr. Leszczynski stated that this procedure will be <br />followed in order to make sure that the proper penalties are <br />assessed should the street lights not be repaired in the <br />appropriate length of time stated in the contract with ISM. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of one hundred forty (140) properties cleaned from June 4 <br />to June 8, 1984 was submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the report was filed. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />City Controller Michael L. Vance submitted Claim Docket No. 11121 <br />through Claim Docket No. 11613 and recommended approval.' Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the claims were approved and the above report filed. <br />STATUS REPORT CONCERNING EAST RACEWAY PROJECT <br />Mr. James Wensits, Reporter for the South Bend Tribune, inquired <br />as to the status of the recent developments in the East Raceway <br />Project that occurred on May 31, 1984. Mr. Leszczynski advised <br />that discussions are being held with Lawson -Fisher Associates., <br />engineers and Mr. Lawrence DuBose of Chicago, a consultant hired <br />to investigate the current situation and that a press conference <br />has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 13, 1984 at 9:30 a.m, to <br />report on the situation and any remedial measures.that will be <br />recommended. Mr. Leszczynski explained that at this time the <br />engineers are evaluating all data compiled and will be prepared <br />on June 13th to answer questions in more detail. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />meeting was adjourned at 10:00 a.m. <br />7Leszc ki11 <br />AT ST: n <br />4'ichard L. ill <br />Sandra M.
