213 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />14AY 14, 1984 <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF MAURICE MATTHYS LITTLE LEAGUE, INC. <br />TO CONDUCT PARADE - MAY 19, 1984 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of <br />Maurice Matthys Little League submitted to the Board on April <br />30, 1984 and recommends approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, Mr. Wadzinski's <br />recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ATHLETIC ANNEX TO CONDUCT <br />RUNNING EVENT ON MAY 20, 1984 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, and the Police Department <br />Traffic Division have reviewed the request of Mr. Dean A. Reinke, <br />President.Athletic Annex, submitted to the Board on March 19, 1984 <br />to conduct a running event on May 20, 1984 to be known as the <br />Governor's Cup Race and recommend approval. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above <br />recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT 14TH ANNUAL ST. JOSEPH <br />RIVER RUN (MAY 19 1984) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of <br />the Athletic Annex to conduct the 14th_Annual St.. Joseph River <br />Run submitted to the Board on April 16, 1984 and recommends <br />approval. Mr. Wadzinski recommends the same traffic pattern. <br />as used in previous years. Riverside Drive from Bartlett to <br />Lafayette is to be closed to controlled use traffic only, <br />Bartlett Street from Michigan to Riverside is to be closed to <br />control use traffic only, Park Lane is to be closed from <br />Lafayette Boulevard to Michigan Street for controlled use traffic <br />only and no parking portables will be placed in the area at the <br />discretion of the Traffic Division and bureaus. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />above recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />DENY REQUEST TO CLOSE EAST NAVARRE STREET FOR <br />A GRADUATION PARTY - MAY 19. 1984 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of Mr. <br />Christopher Ritten, 121 E. Navarre, to close Navarre Street <br />from Michigan to St. Joseph for a graduation party submitted <br />to the Board on May 7, 1984 and recommends denial based on the <br />fact that Michigan Street at Navarre is the only signalized <br />intersection allowing unrestricted ingress/egress to the area. <br />Mr. Leszczynski further advised that numerous objections from <br />the residents of the area and from the first district council- <br />man have been received concerning this request. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above <br />request was denied. <br />APPROVE HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the following four (4) handicapped parking permit <br />applications were approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's <br />office for issuance of permits: <br />Anna M. Johnson, 16325 Fairfield, Granger <br />Esther D. Gordon, 315 E. Indiana, S.B. <br />Louise S. Kapalczynski, 515 E. Monroe, Apt. 207, S.B. <br />Mary Adams, 1218 N. Olive, S.B. <br />
