Im <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 16. 1984 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:31 a.m, on Monday, April 16, 1984 by President John E. Leszczynski, <br />with Mr. Leszczynski and Mr. Michael L. Vance present. Board member <br />Richard L. Hill was not in`attendance. Also present was Deputy City <br />Attorney Robert C. Rosenfeld. <br />APPROVE CHANGE IN MEETING TIME FOR APRIL 23, 1984 MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by. Mr. Leszczynski, seconded.by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the meeting time..of the April'23, 1984 regular meeting <br />of the Board was changed from 9:30 a.m, to,9:00 a.m. It was noted <br />that this change in meeting time will allow Board members to assist <br />in the changing of street signs in observance of Dyngus Day and <br />Solidarity Day. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the minutes of the April 9, 1984 regular meeting of the <br />Board were approved. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the sale of approximately five (5) abandoned vehicles, four <br />(4) of which are valued at over One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) and <br />all of which have been stored at South Bend Auto Parts, 1802 South <br />Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri <br />County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids <br />were opened and publicly read: <br />Steve & Gene's Hurwich Iron Co. <br />3109 S. Gertrude 1829 Prairie <br />Vehicle No. South Bend., IN South Bend, IN <br />1 $25.75 $23.00 <br />2 35.75 26.00 <br />3 35.75 26.00 <br />4 35.75 20.00 <br />5 35.75 22.00 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the following bids were approved and awarded: <br />Steve & Gene's - Vehicle No. 1 $25.75 <br />2 35.75 <br />3 35.75 <br />4 35.75 <br />5 35.75 <br />TOTAL: $168.75 <br />PUBLIC HEARING AND RECOMMENDATION - ALLEY VACATION - NORTH/SOUTH <br />ALLEY IN THE BLOCK OF MONROE STREET TO THE NORTH - THE 1ST THRU <br />EAST/WEST ALLEY SOUTH OF MONROE STREET (SAID ALLEY LYING BETWEEN <br />COLUMBIA STREET TO THE EAST AND CARROLL STREET TO THE WEST) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the Board's <br />public hearing on a proposed alley vacation described as follows: <br />the north/south alley in Denniston and Fellows Addition, parts of <br />Lots 19 and 20, and being more particularly described as the north/ <br />south alley bounded by Monroe Street to the north. The first thru <br />east/west alley south of Monroe Street, lying between Columbia <br />Street to the east and Carroll Street to the West. <br />It was noted that this public hearing is being held in order for <br />the Board to submit a recommendation to the Common Council concern- <br />ing the Petition filed by Mr. David E. Hab, President, Dainty Maid <br />Bake Shop, Inc., 231 South Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, <br />1 <br />0 <br />1 <br />
