Im REGULAR MEETING APRIL 16. 1984 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:31 a.m, on Monday, April 16, 1984 by President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski and Mr. Michael L. Vance present. Board member Richard L. Hill was not in`attendance. Also present was Deputy City Attorney Robert C. Rosenfeld. APPROVE CHANGE IN MEETING TIME FOR APRIL 23, 1984 MEETING Upon a motion made by. Mr. Leszczynski, seconded.by Mr. Vance and carried, the meeting time..of the April'23, 1984 regular meeting of the Board was changed from 9:30 a.m, to,9:00 a.m. It was noted that this change in meeting time will allow Board members to assist in the changing of street signs in observance of Dyngus Day and Solidarity Day. APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the minutes of the April 9, 1984 regular meeting of the Board were approved. OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES This was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed bids for the sale of approximately five (5) abandoned vehicles, four (4) of which are valued at over One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) and all of which have been stored at South Bend Auto Parts, 1802 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Steve & Gene's Hurwich Iron Co. 3109 S. Gertrude 1829 Prairie Vehicle No. South Bend., IN South Bend, IN 1 $25.75 $23.00 2 35.75 26.00 3 35.75 26.00 4 35.75 20.00 5 35.75 22.00 Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the following bids were approved and awarded: Steve & Gene's - Vehicle No. 1 $25.75 2 35.75 3 35.75 4 35.75 5 35.75 TOTAL: $168.75 PUBLIC HEARING AND RECOMMENDATION - ALLEY VACATION - NORTH/SOUTH ALLEY IN THE BLOCK OF MONROE STREET TO THE NORTH - THE 1ST THRU EAST/WEST ALLEY SOUTH OF MONROE STREET (SAID ALLEY LYING BETWEEN COLUMBIA STREET TO THE EAST AND CARROLL STREET TO THE WEST) Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the Board's public hearing on a proposed alley vacation described as follows: the north/south alley in Denniston and Fellows Addition, parts of Lots 19 and 20, and being more particularly described as the north/ south alley bounded by Monroe Street to the north. The first thru east/west alley south of Monroe Street, lying between Columbia Street to the east and Carroll Street to the West. It was noted that this public hearing is being held in order for the Board to submit a recommendation to the Common Council concern- ing the Petition filed by Mr. David E. Hab, President, Dainty Maid Bake Shop, Inc., 231 South Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, 1 0 1
