<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of
<br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic
<br />Division for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD EVENTS IN DOWNTOWN SOUTH BEND IN 1984 REFERRED
<br />In a memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski, City Events
<br />Coordinator, requested permission to hold the following
<br />events in downtown South Bend:
<br />1. World's Largest Garage Sale June 2
<br />The Downtown Merchants have requested that
<br />we change the location to the Jefferson Street
<br />Garage. Recommendations from appropriate
<br />departments are requested.
<br />2. Ethnic Festival - June 30, July 1
<br />We will anticipate the same location, but
<br />request recommendations from the appropriate
<br />departments in the event that new construction
<br />necessitates a change. We are planning for
<br />the same special events in conjunction with
<br />the festival: bed race, waterball contest,
<br />parade, and bicycle race. Further informa-
<br />tion_will be submitted on the parade and
<br />bike race.
<br />3. Art Show - The fourth annual show is planned
<br />for Thursday and Friday, July 12 and 13.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of
<br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division
<br />for review and recommendation.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE TO CONDUCT
<br />MARATHON AND SEVEN -MILE RACE (JUNE 9, 1984)
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the time, date and course for the seven -mile run
<br />and marathon to be held on Saturday, June 9, 1984 and
<br />sponsored by the South Bend Tribune for the benefit of the
<br />American Lung Association was approved. It was noted that
<br />the South Bend Tribune presented their request to conduct
<br />these events to the Board on January 9, 1984.
<br />REQUEST OF ST. ADALBERT'S TO CONDUCT 6TH
<br />ANNUAL CORVILLA FUN RUN REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. William Michalski, Corvilla
<br />Committee, 620 South Meade Street, South Bend, Indiana on
<br />behalf of St. Adalbert's Church, 2420 Huron Street, South
<br />Bend, Indiana, requested permission to hold the 6th Annual
<br />St. Adalbert/Corvilla Fun Run to be held on Sunday, July
<br />15, 1984 at 6:30 p.m. The route to be used is as follows:
<br />Beginning on Olive, to Ford, to Meade, to Sample, to Ford,
<br />to Kosciuszko, to Huron and Finish. Upon a motion made
<br />by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above
<br />request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting
<br />and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and
<br />recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY -
<br />329 & 331 NORTH CUSHING REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Willis Hamilton, 1364 East
<br />Corby, South Bend, Indiana, indicated that he is interested
<br />in purchasing the city -owned property at 329 and 331 North
<br />Cushing Street for the purpose of building a two (2) bedroom
<br />home in 1984. Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by
<br />Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was referred to the
<br />necessary City departments and bureaus for a determination as
<br />to whether or not the City need retain the lots for any reason.
