rAl M. <br />001 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 9, 1984 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:32 a.m, on Monday, January 9, 1984, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. <br />Joseph E. Kernan present. Also present was Assistant City <br />Attorney Carolyn V: Pfotenhauer. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the election of Board President for 1984 and a request <br />by Metal Resources Corporation to locate a temporary mobile <br />office were added to the agenda. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the minutes of the January 3, 1984, regular meeting of the Board <br />were approved. <br />ELECTION OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS PRESIDENT FOR 1984 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, <br />Mr. John E. Leszczynski was elected president of the Board of <br />Public Works for 1984. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS -SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the sale of approximately thirteen (13) abandoned vehicles, <br />eight (8) of which are valued at over One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) <br />and all of which have been stored at the Hurwich Impoundment Lot, <br />1610 Circle Avenue, South Bend, Indiana. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. Falcon <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />$135.00 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above bids were referred to the Department of Code Enforcement <br />for immediate review and recommendation in order that an award <br />could be made prior to the adjournment of the. meeting. The Depart- <br />ment of Code Enforcement, after reviewing the bids submitted, <br />advised the Board that a tie bid existed between Hurwich Iron <br />Company and Steve and Gene's for vehicles number one, three, <br />seven and ten. The Clerk of the Board was then instructed to <br />contact both of these companies in order to receive a new bid <br />which would break the tie. Based on the recommendation of the <br />of the Department of Code Enforcement and the new bids submitted <br />by Hurwich Iron Company and Steve and Gene's, a motion was made <br />by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, that the following <br />bids be awarded: <br />I <br />1 <br />
