REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 12. 19.83 5 0 Board Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer advised that the Non - Collusion Affidavit in the bid of Kale Uniforms, 552 West Roosevelt Road, Chicago, Illinois, was not signed. It was therefore her recommendation that the bid be rejected because of this fatal defect. Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the.bid of Kale Uniforms was rejected. It was noted that the bid of ALB, Inc 366 Sommerville Avenue, Somerville, Massachusetts was received after the legally published deadline of 9:30 a.m. for receipt of sealed bids and was therefore not accepted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above bids.were referred to the Fire Department for review and recommendation. OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS. -:SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES This was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed bids for the sale of approximately nine (9) abandoned vehicles, eight (8) of which are valued at over One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) and all of which have been stored at the Hurwich Impoundment Lot, 1610 Circle Avenue, South Bend, Indiana. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient.. The following bid was opened and publicly read: Hurwich Iron Co. 1610 Circle Avenue Vehicle No. South Bend, Indiana 1 $25.00 2 20.00 3 20.00 4 15.00 5 20.00 6 15.00 7 20.00 8 15.00 9 20.00 There being no other bid presented, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above bid was awarded to Hurwich Iron as submitted. AWARD BID - JANITORIAL SERVICES, INCLUDING PEST AND RODENT CONTROL AT POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THREE (3) POLICE SUBSTATIONS In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Dan D. Thompson recommended that the low bid of Franklin Pest Control, 614 West Calvert Street, in the amount of $720.00 be accepted for control of pests and rodents in the police facilities. Additionally, it is the Police Department's recommendation that the bid of Best Clean- ing Services, 2601 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $17,592.00 be accepted as the lowest bid when consideration is given to the need for security clearance. It was noted that bids for these services were opened on November 21, 1983. Chief Thompson stated that Best Cleaning Services has performed satisfactorily during the past year. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above recommendations were approved and the bids awarded. AWARD BID - STREET DEPARTMENT EQUIPMENT In a letter to the Board, Mr. Sean Watt, Director, Division of Transportation, recommended that the Board award the following equipment bids which were received on December 5, 1983:
