REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 12. 19.83 <br />5 <br />0 <br />Board Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer advised that the Non - <br />Collusion Affidavit in the bid of Kale Uniforms, 552 West <br />Roosevelt Road, Chicago, Illinois, was not signed. It was <br />therefore her recommendation that the bid be rejected because <br />of this fatal defect. Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded <br />by Mr. Kernan and carried, the.bid of Kale Uniforms was rejected. <br />It was noted that the bid of ALB, Inc 366 Sommerville Avenue, <br />Somerville, Massachusetts was received after the legally <br />published deadline of 9:30 a.m. for receipt of sealed bids and <br />was therefore not accepted. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the above bids.were referred to the Fire Department <br />for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS. -:SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for the receiving and opening of sealed <br />bids for the sale of approximately nine (9) abandoned vehicles, <br />eight (8) of which are valued at over One Hundred Dollars <br />($100.00) and all of which have been stored at the Hurwich <br />Impoundment Lot, 1610 Circle Avenue, South Bend, Indiana. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the <br />South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found <br />to be sufficient.. The following bid was opened and publicly <br />read: <br />Hurwich Iron Co. <br />1610 Circle Avenue <br />Vehicle No. <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />1 <br />$25.00 <br />2 <br />20.00 <br />3 <br />20.00 <br />4 <br />15.00 <br />5 <br />20.00 <br />6 <br />15.00 <br />7 <br />20.00 <br />8 <br />15.00 <br />9 <br />20.00 <br />There being no other bid presented, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above bid <br />was awarded to Hurwich Iron as submitted. <br />AWARD BID - JANITORIAL SERVICES, INCLUDING PEST AND RODENT CONTROL <br />AT POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THREE (3) POLICE SUBSTATIONS <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Dan D. Thompson recommended <br />that the low bid of Franklin Pest Control, 614 West Calvert Street, <br />in the amount of $720.00 be accepted for control of pests and <br />rodents in the police facilities. Additionally, it is the <br />Police Department's recommendation that the bid of Best Clean- <br />ing Services, 2601 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, in <br />the amount of $17,592.00 be accepted as the lowest bid when <br />consideration is given to the need for security clearance. It <br />was noted that bids for these services were opened on November <br />21, 1983. Chief Thompson stated that Best Cleaning Services <br />has performed satisfactorily during the past year. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above recommendations were approved and the bids awarded. <br />AWARD BID - STREET DEPARTMENT EQUIPMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Sean Watt, Director, Division of <br />Transportation, recommended that the Board award the following <br />equipment bids which were received on December 5, 1983: <br />
