REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 10, 1985 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 1985, by President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski and Ms. Katherine G. Barnard present. Board member Michael L. Vance was not in attendance. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. AGENDA ITEM STRICKEN AND AGENDA ITEM ADDED Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, a Public Hearing on a proposed alley vacation was stricken from the agenda as it contained an erroneous legal description and must be re -published by the Common Council before a Public Hearing can be held and the approval of the extension of an offer to purchase city -owned property at the N.W. corner of Lincolnway West and Chapin (Innerbelt) was added to the agenda. APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the minutes of the December 3, 1985, regular meeting of the Board were approved. OPENING OF BIDS - EAST BANK DEMOLITION 1985 PHASE III PROJECT This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: B & J EXCAVATION, INC. BID: $23,999.00 1737 North Elmer Street South Bend, Indiana 46628 Bid was signed by Juluis O'Neal, Jr., and Eveline O'Neal, Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. RITSCHARD BROTHERS, INC. BID: $15,990.00 1204 West Sample Street South Bend, Indiana 46619 Bid was signed by Carmelo Ritschard, President and Donald Ritschard, Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. LA FREE EXCAVATING, INC. BID: $18,869.00 11252 West 3rd Street Osceola, Indiana Bid was signed by Richard C. LaFree, President and Bonnie LaFree, Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. WAGONER EXCAVATING & WRECKING BID: $21,900.00 1373 East State Road 4 LaPorte, Indiana Bid was signed by Robert Wagoner, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a Treasurer's Check in the amount of $1,100.00 was submitted. Mr. Leszczynski advised that this project entails the demolition of the City News Building at 303 LaSalle and the Standard Mechanical Building located at 345 Hydraulic Avenue. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation.
