REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 30, 1985 <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND COALITION AGAINST APARTHEID TO <br />CONDUCT MARCH AND RALLY - OCTOBER 12, 1985 <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department <br />Traffic Division have reviewed the request as referred to above, <br />said request submitted to the Board on September 23, 1985, and <br />recommend approval subject to participants staying on the <br />sidewalks and obeying traffic signals while marching on other <br />than the closed River Bend Plaza area. The exact route to be <br />utilized will be submitted to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division as soon as it becomes <br />available. No police escort will be provided. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the <br />recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />DENY REQUEST OF BLAKE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION TO ERECT TEMPORARY <br />SALE SIGN ON PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY (AUCTION OF TOPSFIELD <br />CONDOMINIUMS) <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard <br />and carried, the above referred to request as submitted to the <br />Board on September 23, 1985, was denied. Ms. Barnard advised <br />that the Department of Code Enforcement has received a number of <br />telephone calls from residents of the area objecting to the <br />placement of the sign on the public right-of-way. <br />FILING OF PERFORMANCE AND PAYMENT BOND - WILLIAMS CONTRACTING <br />(HANDICAP SIDEWALK RAMPS 1985 PROJECT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Bob Williams, Williams <br />Contracting, 1240 North Kaley Street, South Bend, Indiana, has <br />submitted his Performance and Payment Bond in the amount of <br />$17,829.25 and therefore his Treasurer's Check No. 177457 in the <br />amount of $17,829.25 submitted on September 23, 1985, in lieu of <br />the above referred to bond, should be released. Therefore, upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the bond was accepted for filing as submitted and the <br />Treasurer's Check released. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTOR'S BOND <br />Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that the <br />Contractor's Bond for L. L. Geans & Sons, Inc., be approved <br />effective September 30, 1985. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above <br />Contractor's Bond was approved. <br />APPROVE RELEASE OF EXCAVATION BOND <br />Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that the <br />Excavation Bond for David E. McDaniel, Co., be released effective <br />October 25, 1985. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above referred to <br />Excavation Bond was released. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of one -hundred twenty-seven (127) properties cleaned from <br />September 20, 1985 to September 27, 1985 was submitted. Upon a <br />motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the report as submitted was filed. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Deputy City Controller Carol M. Sanders submitted Claim Docket <br />No. 21842 through Claim Docket No. 22271 and recommended <br />approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. <br />Barnard and carried, the claims were approved and the report <br />filed. <br />l <br />1 <br />
