REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 30, 1985
<br />AWARD BID AND APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - RECONSTRUCTION OF
<br />FIRE STATION NO. 7 (1616 PORTAGE AVENUE)
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau
<br />of Public Construction, recommended that the Board accept the bid
<br />of Kaser-Spraker Construction, Inc., 25487 West State Road 2,
<br />P.O. Box 3605, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $42,732.00.
<br />It was noted that bids for this project were opened by the Board
<br />on September 23, 1985. Mr. Leszczynski further advised that in
<br />accordance with the award of this bid, a Contract in said amount
<br />was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above bid was
<br />awarded and the Contract approved, and the appropriate insurance,
<br />Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond were
<br />accepted for filing as submitted.
<br />DENY REQUESTS
<br />TO PURCHASE CITY OWNED PROPERTY AT 615 EAST OHIO
<br />STREET, 709 EAST OHIO STREET AND 1230/1234 COLFAX
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that pursuant to the Board's request of
<br />various City departments and bureaus for recommendations
<br />regarding the sale of the above referred to properties, the Board
<br />has received recommendations from the Department of Economic
<br />Development not to sell the above referred to properties. Based
<br />on those unfavorable recommendations, upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Vance, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the requests to
<br />purchase the above referred to City -owned lots were denied.
<br />REQUEST OF NORTHERN INDIANA CHAPTER MARCH OF DIMES TO CONDUCT
<br />16TH ANNUAL WALKAMERICA - APRIL 26, 1986 REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Diana M. Dolde, Administrator,
<br />Northern Indiana Chapter March of Dimes, P.O. Box 23, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, requested permission to conduct the 16th Annual
<br />WalkAmerica on Saturday, April 26, 1986. The route to be
<br />utilized is the same as in prior years with the walk beginning
<br />and ending in Potawatomi Park.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard
<br />and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic
<br />and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for
<br />review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT 427 NORTH EDDY STREET
<br />AND NORTH 1/2 OF LOT 13 IN HULL'S SUBDIVISION OF BLOCK 11
<br />REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. John Friedline, 918 East Jefferson
<br />Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, advised that he is interested in
<br />purchasing the.City owned property at 427 North Eddy Street and
<br />the north one-half (1/2) of Lot 13 in Hull's Subdivision Block
<br />11. He further advised that he owns property adjacent to the
<br />above referred to City -owned property. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request
<br />was referred to the necessary City departments and bureaus for a
<br />determination as to whether or not the City need retain the lot
<br />for any reason.
<br />REQUEST TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE FOR THE GIPPER SHOW - OCTOBER 18,
<br />1985 REFERRED
<br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office
<br />of Community Affairs, advised that Hospice is planning a major
<br />fundraising event to be held on Friday, October 18, 1985, at the
<br />Morris Civic Auditorium. The event is the repremiere of the old
<br />Knute Rockne movie, and attendance is expected to be quite large.

<br />following activities is requested:
