04 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 3, 1985 <br />DENY REQUEST TO OPERATE HENSELL'S FRENCH FRIED VEGETABLE STAND ON <br />PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY IN CONJUNCTION WITH INTERNATIONAL WATERBALL <br />CONVENTION - SEPTEMBER 7-8, L985 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Diana Hensell, 54035 North Ironwood, <br />South Bend, Indiana, has applied for an Itinerant Restaurant <br />license to sell french fried vegetables on September 7-8, 1985 in <br />conjunction with the International Waterball Convention with the <br />stand to be located at the northwest corner of Jefferson and <br />Lafayette Boulevard. As the location of the stand is public <br />right-of-way, Ms. Hensell is requesting board permission to <br />operate at that location. Mr. Leszczynski indicated that he has <br />some concerns regarding the placement of a stand at that location <br />as it would restrict pedestrian flow in the area. Ms. Barnard <br />and Mr. Vance echoed Mr. Leszczynski's concerns. Therefore, upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the request as submitted was denied. Members of the <br />Board recommended that Ms. Hensell attempt to secure permission <br />from the County Commissioners to locate her stand on property <br />owned by the County adjacent to the County -City Building. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the following two (2) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />REMOVAL OF NO PARKING -STOPPING, STANDING 6P-6A - <br />REVISE TO OPEN PARKING - 517-525 N. Hill. <br />(Requested by Business, Kevin). <br />REMOVAL OF 2-HOUR'PARKING 6A-6P - REVISED TO 1-HOUR <br />PARKING 6A-6P - 500 L.W.W., Northside from Taylor <br />to Chapin. (Requested by Business). <br />Ms. Barnard indicated that removal of 2-hour parking and revision <br />to 1-hour parking on L.W.W. was requested by the merchants in the <br />area to relieve parking congestion and she was pleased that this <br />action was being taken today to correct the situation. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of one -hundred eight (108) properties cleaned from August <br />26, 1985 to August 30, 1985, was submitted. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the <br />report as submitted was filed. <br />NOTIFICATION OF CHANGE IN VEHICLES PURCHASED BY THE POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT TAKEN UNDER ADVISEMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Charles T. Hurley advised <br />that Thomas Dodge of Orland Park, Illinois, 14200 South LaGrange <br />Road, Orland Park, Illinois, is unable to provide three (3) 1984 <br />Chevrolet Celebrities as bid. Chief Hurley further advised that <br />the failure of Thomas Dodge to meet this bid will not adversely <br />affect the operation of the Department and he would therefore <br />recommend the purchase of three (3) additional Ford LTD II's in <br />place of the front -wheel drive vehicles. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, this matter <br />was taken under advisement until the next regular meeting of the <br />Board. <br />APPROVE CLAIMS <br />Deputy City Controller Carol M. Sanders submitted Claim Docket <br />No. 019575 through Claim Docket No. 019997 and recommended <br />approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. <br />Barnard and carried, the claims were approved and the report <br />filed. <br />
