Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE ALLEY AT 1401/1405 MC KINLEY FOR WEDDING <br />RECEPTION - AUGUST 16-17, 1985 <br />In a letter to the Board, Mrs. J. Flannagan, 1405 East McKinley, <br />South Bend, Indiana, requested that the alley at 1401 and 1405 <br />East McKinley be blocked off from 4:00 p.m. August 16, 1985 until <br />the evening of August 17th. She advised that she is requesting <br />this closure as her daughter is having a backyard wedding on <br />August 17th. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting has reviewed this request and they recommend <br />approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. <br />Barnard and carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION TO CLOSE ALLEY AT <br />1024 WEST INDIANA AVENUE FOR ANNUAL PICNIC - AUGUST 3, 1985 <br />Mr. Frank J. Wukovits, Sr., President, Branch #132, William Penn <br />Association, 1024 West Indiana Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, <br />advised that the William Penn Club Lodge's annual picnic will be <br />held on Saturday, August 3, 1985, commencing at 12:00 noon. The <br />main spectator participation and activities will be conducted in <br />the rear of the Club's building but as the picnic will be open to <br />the public, the alleys surrounding the building will need to be <br />blocked off thus restricting travel by automobiles. Mr." <br />Leszczynski ,stated that this request has been reviewed by the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and it is their recommendation <br />that the request be granted. Therefore, upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the request <br />as submitted was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS FREEZE CAMPAIGN TO CONDUCT <br />RALLY ON RIVER BEND PLAZA - AUGUST 6, 1985 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the <br />request of the Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign to conduct a rally <br />on River Bend Plaza on August 6, 1985, said request submitted to <br />the Board on July 22, 1985, and recommend approval. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF HOLLADAY CORPORATION TO CONDUCT FINE ARTS <br />SCULPTURE EVENT - SEPTEMBER 8-28, 1985 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that on July 15, 1985, the Holladay <br />Corporation requested permission to conduct a fine arts sculpture <br />event in downtown South Bend adjacent to One Michiana Square from <br />September 8-28, 1985. The request as submitted was referred to <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department <br />Traffic Division for review and recommendation. As a result of <br />that review, it was discovered that the site requested will be <br />under construction at the time requested. Mr. Leszczynski <br />further advised that Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office of <br />Community Affairs, has communicated with the Holladay Corporation <br />and they have revised their request and now ask to conduct the <br />event on the green area in front of the Morris Civic Auditorium. <br />Ms. Dobski advised that she has discussed this matter with Park <br />Superintendent James Seitz and he has given his verbal approval <br />with final permission to be granted by the Board of Park <br />Commissioners. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the request to conduct the <br />above referred to event on the green in front of the Morris Civic <br />Auditorium from September 8-28, 1985, was approved subject to <br />final approval of the location by the Board of Park <br />Commissioners. <br />
