REGULAR MEETING JUNE 17, 1985 <br />1 <br />1 <br />r <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ST. JOE VALLEY WATERCOLOR SOCIETY FOR TRAFFIC <br />CONTROL DURING LEEPER PARK ART FAIR - JUNE-22 & 23, 1985 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, <br />Division of Engineering and Captain Edward Friend, Police <br />Department Traffic Division, have reviewed the request of the St. <br />Joe Valley Watercolor Society to change, Riverside Drive to one-way <br />westbound with parking limited to the south side and Park Lane <br />one-way eastbound with,parking on the,north side during the Leeper <br />Park Art:Fair and recommend approval.. It was noted that the <br />request was submitted to the Board on June 3, 1985. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the <br />above recommendation was accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LETTER CARRIERS TO <br />CONDUCT ANNUAL MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY ASSOCIATION INTERSECTION <br />SOLICITATION - JULY 14, 1985 <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Karen S. Locke, District Director, <br />Muscular Dystrophy Association, on behalf of the National <br />Association of Letter Carriers, requested permission to hold their <br />annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Intersection Solicitation on <br />Sunday, July 14, 1985 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. at the <br />following intersections: <br />1. Miami & Ireland <br />2. Edison & Ironwood <br />3. Miami & Lincolnway East <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Joseph J. Pluta, Director, <br />Division of Engineering and Captain Edward Friend, Police <br />Department Traffic Division, have reviewed this request and <br />recommend approval to solicit on the sidewalks only. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the above recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the following five (5) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. REMOVE NO TURN ON RED - Lafayette to Jefferson, <br />Westbound to North. (Temporary installation, <br />conversion to 2-way traffic). <br />2. REMOVE NO TURN ON RED - Main to Jefferson, Eastbound <br />to South. (Temporary installation, conversion to <br />2-way traffic). <br />3. REMOVE NO TURN ON RED - Lafayette & Washington, North- <br />bound to West. (Temporary installation, conversion <br />to 2-way traffic). <br />4. REMOVE NO TURN ON RED - Williams and Jefferson, Southbound <br />to East & West. (Temporary installation, conversion to <br />2-way traffic). <br />5. NEW INSTALLATION - 1709 South'Douglas - Handicap Tow -away <br />zone. Request of John Pecsi, 1709 Douglas. <br />FILING OF HUMANE SOCIETY REPORT - MAY <br />The Humane Society report for the month of May indicated the <br />following matters handled for the City of South Bend: <br />DOGS HANDLED: 223 <br />CATS HANDLED: 155 <br />OTHER ANIMALS HANDLED: 146 <br />BITE CASES HANDLED: 21 <br />COMPLAINTS HANDLED: 191 <br />
