{ <br />5. <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 22, 1985 <br />APPROVE CONTRACT - KORBULY-GRAF ARCHITECTS - DEVELOPMENT OF <br />CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR RESTORATION OF <br />FIREHOUSE THEATRE <br />Mr. Leszczynski read a letter from Michael L. Vance, Director, <br />Administration & Finance, advising that the proposed contract <br />involves the development of construction documents and <br />specifications to be used in the bidding of the restoration of the <br />Firehouse Theatre located at the intersection of Portage, Lindsey <br />and Leland Streets which was heavily damaged by fire. The <br />contract itself is in the amount of $7,650 of which $1,530 is <br />allocated to the construction engineering phase. This section is <br />broken out as the city may decide to use in house forces during <br />this phase. Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. <br />Leszczynski and carried, the above referred to contract with <br />Korbuly-Graf Architects was approved and executed. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR VARIOUS EQUIPMENT - STREET <br />DEPARTMENT <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that in conjunction with the new alley <br />maintenance program he would like to request the advertising of <br />bids for equipment to be used in the program as follows: single <br />axle dump trucks, soil mixing machines, pneumatic tired rollers, <br />alley graders and tank trucks. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request <br />to advertise for the receipt of bids for various pieces of <br />equipment for the Street Department was approved. <br />REQUEST MAURICE MATTHYS LITTLE LEAGUE PARADE - MAY 18, 1985 - <br />REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. David Abbott, Vice President of the <br />Maurice Matthys Little League, P.O. Box 3074, South Bend, Indiana, <br />requested permission to conduct a parade on Saturday, May 18, 1985 <br />beginning at 9:00 a.m. The route to be used is a follows: <br />Beginning at Matthys Little League Ball Park, east on Meadow Lane <br />to Edison, North on Edison and Villageway to Washington, East on <br />Washington to Gladstone, North on Gladstone to Linden, West on <br />Linden to Lombardy Drive, South on Lombardy Drive to Ford, West on <br />Ford to Sample, East on Sample to Evergreen, South on Evergreen <br />back to the ball park. Mr. Abbott advised that the parade will <br />consist of approximately sixty (60) vehicles. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above <br />request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the <br />Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO BLOCK PORTION OF ALLEY BEHIND 1639 SOUTH CARLISLE - MAY <br />4, 1985 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Catanna Roe, 1639 South Carlisle <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close the <br />alley behind her house on May 4, 1985 from 5:00 p.m. until 3:00 <br />a.m. for a birthday party. The alley will be used to park cars of <br />the people attending the party. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request <br />was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />FILING OF HUMANE SOCIETY REPORT - MARCH <br />The Humane Society report for the month of March indicated the <br />following matters handled for the City of South Bend: <br />DOGS HANDLED: 372 <br />CATS HANDLED: 171 <br />OTHER ANIMALS HANDLED: 2 <br />BITE CASES HANDLED: 13 <br />COMPLAINTS HANDLED: 178 <br />
