REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 14, 1985 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above bids were referred to the Department of Code <br />Enforcement for immediate review and recommendation in order that <br />an award could be made prior to adjournment of the meeting. <br />Following that review, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the following bids were awarded: <br />Hurwich Iron Co. - Vehicle No. 3 $20.00 <br />5 20.00 <br />8 15.00 <br />11 15.00 <br />16 20.00 <br />TOTAL: $90.00 <br />Steve & Gene's - Vehicle No. 6 $20.50 <br />10 10.50 <br />14 11.50 <br />15 10.50 <br />TOTAL: $53.00 <br />J & D Transportation - No. 2 $35.00 <br />GRAND TOTAL: $178.00 <br />AWARD BID - APPROXIMATELY THIRTY-FIVE (35) VEHICLES FOR THE 1985 <br />POLICE AUTO FLEET <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Charles T. Hurley advised <br />that the Department has reviewed the bids received on January 7, <br />1985, and recommend that the low bid of Gurley Leep Dodge, 51176 <br />U.S. 31 North, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $381,956.05 <br />for thirty-five (35) 1985 Dodge Diplomats be awarded. It was <br />noted that the unit price per vehicle is $10,913.03. <br />Additionally, the charge for rust -proofing will be $79.00 per <br />vehicle and not $125.00 per vehicle as originally bid. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the recommendation was accepted and the bid awarded. <br />AWARD BID - ONE (1) OR MORE STREET SWEEPERS <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. William Penn, Director, Division of <br />Transportation, recommended that the Board award the low bid of <br />Best Equipment Company, Inc., 2804 North Catherwood Avenue, <br />Indianapolis, Indiana, in the amount of $81,548.00 for one (1) new <br />and unused Elgin Whirlwind street sweeper mounted on International <br />Harvester Model CO-1850, including dual controls, dual brooms and <br />hydraulic controlled wander hose. Mr. Leszczynski advised that <br />bids for the above referred to equipment were opened by the Board <br />on December 31, 1984. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the recommendation was accepted <br />and the bid awarded. <br />AWARD BID - ONE (1) ASPHALT ROLLER <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. William Penn, Director, Division of <br />Transportation, recommended that the Board award the bid of Reid <br />Holcomb Company, Inc., 3333 West Coliseum Boulevard, Fort Wayne, <br />Indiana, in the amount of $46,175.26 for one (1) new Tampo Model <br />156-A double drum asphalt roller less trade-in of Rex Roller SIN <br />HR196-8 of $2,000.00 for a net price of $44,175.26. Mr. Penn <br />advised that although there were two (2) suppliers with lower <br />bids, McAllister Machinery with trade-in at $41,516.50 and Kitchen <br />Machinery with trade-in of $42,486.00, the recommendation is based <br />on the following reasons, not necessarily in this order: <br />[l <br />1 <br />
