164, <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 20, 1986 <br />In response to Mr. Vance's inquiry regarding South Bend <br />Heritage's plans for the Center, Mr. Jeff Gibney, Executive <br />Director, South Bend Heritage Foundation, advised that currently <br />there are eighteen (18) full-time tenants and the center will <br />continue to be managed as a community center. He stated that <br />one-third (1/3) of the funds received in the fundraising effort <br />will be reserved for actual acquisition of the center with the <br />remaining two-thirds (2/3) of the funds to be utilized for <br />rehabilitation. Further, it is anticipated that there will be an <br />Advisory Board overseeing the management of programs and the <br />South Bend Heritage Board overseeing the finances of the Center. <br />In response to a question, Mr. Gibney stated that the operating <br />costs will be covered by the income received. He stated that all <br />tenants pay rent and the income generated is approximately <br />$50,000.00 with expenses being the same amount. He further <br />stated that the Center is operating on a tight budget. <br />Ms. Barnard indicated that she is very supportive of this project <br />and stated that it is a tremendous addition to Lincolnway West in <br />conjunction with the work the City has done with the business <br />association. <br />Submitted to the Board for approval at this time, was an <br />Agreement for Sale and Purchase of Real Property which indicated <br />that Southold Heritage Foundation, Inc., d/b/a/ South Bend <br />Heritage Foundation wishes to purchase the Colfax Cultural Center <br />and the City of South Bend will purchase said property from its <br />current owner, Michiana College of Commerce, Inc. Further, on <br />May 27, 1986, the City shall sell to South Bend Heritage <br />Foundation, the property known as the Colfax Cultural Center for <br />thirty-four thousand nine -hundred dollars ($34,900.00). <br />Additionally submitted to the Board was the Petition to Release <br />Accrued Tax and Remove Property From Tax Rolls to be sent to the <br />State Board of Tax Commissioners to remove the property from the <br />tax rolls and release accrued taxes and a Warranty Deed from <br />Michiana College of Commerce, Inc., conveying to the City of <br />South Bend, Department of Redevelopment, the property known as <br />the Colfax Cultural Center. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. <br />Vance and carried, the Agreement for Sale and Purchase of Real <br />Property between the City of South Bend (seller) and the South <br />Bend Heritage Foundation (Purchaser), the Petition to Release <br />Accrued Tax and Remove Property from Tax Rolls and the Warranty <br />Deed were accepted and approved. <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO.8-1986 - SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY <br />AT: <br />- 1608 1/2 PRAIRIE <br />- 424 EAST SOUTH STREET <br />- 508 EAST SOUTH STREET <br />- 510 EAST SOUTH STREET <br />- 610 SOUTH FELLOWS STREET <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard <br />and carried, the following Resolution No. 8-1986 for the sale of <br />City -owned properties was adopted: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 8-1986 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana, has compiled a current detailed inventory of all <br />real property owned by the City of South Bend; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works has reviewed said <br />inventory of real property and it finds that certain of the <br />parcels of real estate now owned by the City of South Bend are <br />not necessary to the public use and are not set aside by State <br />and City laws for public purposes; and <br />
