Adopted at the Regular Meeting of the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana, held on March 25, 1986, on the 13th Floor of the County -City Building, 227 West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana 46601. Parmerlee, Clerk AWARD BID AND APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - WILLIAM & FRANKLIN SANITARY SEWER RELOCATION PROJECT In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau of Public Construction, recommended that the Board accept the low bid of H. DeWulf Mechanical Contractor, Inc., 58600 Executive Drive, P.O. Box 986, Mishawaka, Indiana, in the amount of $26,340.00. It was noted that bids for this project were opened by the Board on March 18, 1986, Mr. Leszczynski further advised that in accordance with the award of this bid, a Contract in said amount was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above bid was awarded, the Contract approved, and the appropriate insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond as submitted were filed. APPROVE AGREEMENTS COVERING CONSTRUCTION OF HIGHWAY -RAILWAY GRADE CROSSINGS: OLIVE STREET CONRAIL GRADE CROSSING RECONSTRUCTION AND WALNUT STREET CONRAIL GRADE CROSSING AND APPROVE RAILROAD AGREEMENT - OLIVE STREET AT CONRAIL CROSSING RECONSTRUCTION Mr. Robert E. Wheeler, Area Engineer, Division of Local Assistance, State of Indiana, Indiana Department of Highways, 100 North Senate Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana, submitted to the Board the above referred to three (3) Agreements. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Agreements indicate that the project costs are to be split between the City and the Federal Highway Department, with the City responsible for 10% of the cost and the FHD responsible for 90% of the costs involved. The Olive Street Conrail Grade Crossing Reconstruction project consists of construction of a rubber pad crossing surface over three (3) tracks with an estimated cost of $226,000.00. It was noted that upon completion of the work, the City will be responsible for the supplying and installation of the railroad advance warning signs and pavement markings. The Walnut Street Conrail Grade Crossing Agreement indicates that the project consists of installation of rubber pad grade crossing at an estimated cost of $70,000.00. The Agreement amount is only an estimate and will vary based on completion of the work. Further, when construction is completed, the City will be responsible for the installation of railroad advance warning signs and pavement markings.
