�5 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 25, 1986 <br />order that appraisers be appointed to establish the value <br />of said real estate, and all other necessary and proper <br />actions be taken to accomplish the taking by eminent <br />domain pursuant to law. <br />Adopted at the Regular Meeting of the Board of Public <br />Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana, held on March 25, <br />1986, on the 13th Floor of the County -City Building, 227 <br />West Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana 46601. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />s/John E. Parmerlee, Clerk <br />AWARD BID AND APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - WILLIAM & FRANKLIN <br />SANITARY SEWER RELOCATION PROJECT <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan, Manager, Bureau <br />of Public Construction, recommended that the Board accept the low <br />bid of H. DeWulf Mechanical Contractor, Inc., 58600 Executive <br />Drive, P.O. Box 986, Mishawaka, Indiana, in the amount of <br />$26,340.00. It was noted that bids for this project were opened <br />by the Board on March 18, 1986, Mr. Leszczynski further advised <br />that in accordance with the award of this bid, a Contract in said <br />amount was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above <br />bid was awarded, the Contract approved, and the appropriate <br />insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond <br />as submitted were filed. <br />APPROVE AGREEMENTS COVERING CONSTRUCTION OF HIGHWAY -RAILWAY GRADE <br />CROSSINGS: OLIVE STREET CONRAIL GRADE CROSSING RECONSTRUCTION <br />AND WALNUT STREET CONRAIL GRADE CROSSING AND APPROVE RAILROAD <br />AGREEMENT - OLIVE STREET AT CONRAIL CROSSING RECONSTRUCTION <br />Mr. Robert E. Wheeler, Area Engineer, Division of Local <br />Assistance, State of Indiana, Indiana Department of Highways, 100 <br />North Senate Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana, submitted to the <br />Board the above referred to three (3) Agreements. Mr. <br />Leszczynski advised that the Agreements indicate that the project <br />costs are to be split between the City and the Federal Highway <br />Department, with the City responsible for 10% of the cost and the <br />FHD responsible for 90% of the costs involved. <br />The Olive Street Conrail Grade Crossing Reconstruction project <br />consists of construction of a rubber pad crossing surface over <br />three (3) tracks with an estimated cost of $226,000.00. It was <br />noted that upon completion of the work, the City will be <br />responsible for the supplying and installation of the railroad <br />advance warning signs and pavement markings. <br />The Walnut Street Conrail Grade Crossing Agreement indicates that <br />the project consists of installation of rubber pad grade crossing <br />at an estimated cost of $70,000.00. The Agreement amount is <br />only an estimate and will vary based on completion of the work. <br />Further, when construction is completed, the City will be <br />responsible for the installation of railroad advance warning <br />signs and pavement markings. <br />
