72 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 4, 1986 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director, Department of Code Enforcement, <br />requested permission to advertise for the sale of approximately <br />seventeen (17) abandoned vehicles which are being stored at Steve <br />& Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 South Gertrude <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have <br />been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks <br />had been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders <br />notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. <br />Barnard and carried, the above request was approved and a date of <br />March 18, 1986, was established for the receiving and opening of <br />sealed bids. <br />REQUEST TO DESIGNATE WALL STREET ONE-WAY FOR ZOOFEST - JUNE 7-8, <br />1986, REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Dorothy Tanner, 3605 Hays Court, <br />South Bend, Indiana, advised that as the 1986 co-chairman of the <br />Zoological Society's Zoofest to be held at Potowatomi Zoo on June <br />7 & 8, 1986 from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. she would like to request <br />that Wall Street be designated as a one-way street during zoo <br />hours. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. <br />Barnard and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division <br />for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO DESIGNATE TAYLOR STREET IN FRONT OF ST. <br />PATRICK'S CHURCH AS ST. PATRICK'S STREET - MARCH 14-17 1986 <br />In a letter to the Board, Councilman John Voorde advised that <br />this year St. Patrick's Parish will mark its 128th year of <br />service to the community. The church building itself will be 100 <br />years old and a grand celebration is planned. On St. Patrick's <br />Day weekend, the centennial anniversary year will begin with a <br />special service in the church and reception in the parish hall. <br />Therefore, it is requested that Taylor Street, in front of the <br />church, be designated as St. Patrick's Street from March 14-17, <br />1986. This would involve changing only the two (2) signs at <br />Taylor and Wayne. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Ms. Barnard and carried, the above referred to <br />request was approved. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the following three (3) traffic control devices were <br />approved: <br />1. NEW INSTALLATION, STOP SIGN - On Clover at North Side. <br />(Uncontrolled "T"). <br />2. REMOVAL OF HANDICAP TOW -AWAY - 717 E. Altgeld. (Mr. <br />Elmer Blondell expired). <br />3. REMOVAL OF NO PARKING - West side of Brookfield from <br />Western to Huron. <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS REPORT <br />A report from the Department of Code Enforcement indicating a <br />total of twenty-eight (28) properties cleaned from February 21, <br />1986 to February 27, 1986, was submitted. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the report as <br />submitted was filed. <br />FILING OF CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard <br />and carried, the Certificate of Insurance for Trans -Tech <br />Electric, P.O. Box 3915, South Bend, Indiana, was accepted and <br />filed. <br />J <br />1 <br />
