59 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 18, 1986 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS: <br />- SOUTH STREET DEMOLITION AND SITE CLEARING PROJECT <br />- WILLIAMS AND FRANKLIN STREETS SANITARY SEWER RELOCATION <br />PROJECT <br />Mr. Neil Shanahan, Manager, Bureau of Public Construction, <br />requested that the Board advertise for the receipt of bids for <br />the above referred to projects. Upon a motion made by Ms. <br />Barnard, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the request was <br />approved. <br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO. 3 - PALAIS ROYALE PROJECT - EXTERIOR <br />RENOVATION <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that architects James E. Childs & <br />Associates, Inc., 521 West Colfax Avenue, South Bend, Indiana and <br />contractor Harry H. Verkler, Contractor, Inc., 645 Wilber Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana, have submitted Change Order No. 3 for the <br />above referred to project indicating an increase of $11,600.00 <br />for a new total Contract Sum, including this Change Order, in the <br />amount of $227,024.00. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the <br />increased cost is due to the fact that an underground vault had <br />to be filled -in. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Ms. Barnard and carried, Change Order No. 3 as submitted was <br />approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CONDUCT SUNBURST MARATHON AND 10K ROAD RACE - <br />JUNE 7, 1986 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the <br />request submitted to the Board on January 7, 1986 to conduct the <br />above referred to events, and recommend approval. It was noted <br />that final details regarding costs for these events will be <br />discussed with the event sponsor in the near future. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Barnard and <br />carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request <br />approved. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Barnard, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the following one (1) traffic control device was <br />approved: <br />1. REMOVAL OF 2-HOUR PARKING 6A-6P, 1 SPACE, REVISE TO <br />HANDICAP TOW -AWAY - 3123 Mishawaka Avenue, River <br />Park Clinic. (1 parking space 22' on 32nd Street, <br />main entrance on 32nd Street). <br />REQUEST OF JUSTICE AND PEACE CENTER TO CONDUCT 4TH ANNUAL CROP <br />WALK FOR HUNGER - APRIL 13, 1986 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Rita M. Kopczynski, Justice and <br />Peace Center, CROP Walk Arrangements Committee, 136 South Chapin <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, and Sister Nadine Overbeck, O.S.F., <br />1986 CROP Walk Co-ordinator, requested permission to conduct the <br />4th Annual CROP Walk at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 1986. <br />This 6.2 mile walk will utilize the following route: <br />Begin at St. Joseph High School (Michigan and Angela <br />Boulevard); west down Angela (north side) to Portage (cross <br />Portage); Portage (west side) to Elwood (south side); Elwood <br />to Wilbur (east side); Wilbur to LaPorte (west side); cross <br />at LaPorte and Colfax to east side; LaPorte to Washington <br />(north side); cross Washington (north to south), cross to <br />east side of Chapin; Chapin south to Wayne (stop at Food <br />Bank, Wayne & Chapin); Wayne to Scott, north on Scott; to <br />Washington (south side); to Lafayette (west side) crossing at <br />Colfax to north side of Colfax; Colfax (north side) across <br />
