Citisource, Inc. <br />365 West Passaic Street <br />Rochelle Park, New Jersey <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the bids were referred to a technical committee for <br />review and recommendation. <br />Councilman John Voorde was present and asked the Board if they <br />were sure that by proceeding with the acquisition of the above <br />referred to computer aided dispatch system that they would not be <br />compromising the county -wide emergency system and the work of the <br />task force. He further asked if it would not be prudent to wait <br />until the study is completed and recommendations are available in <br />regards to how to proceed with this system. <br />In response, Mr. Leszczynski advised Mr. Voorde that it is the <br />City's belief that proceeding at this time will in no way hinder <br />the efforts for a county -wide system and in fact will be <br />beneficial in that the City will already be one step ahead. He <br />further advised that the system requested by the City will be <br />capable of handling computer aided dispatch county -wide. The <br />computer will additionally be able to provide to the Police and <br />Fire Departments a management information system as well as <br />record keeping functions for both departments thereby providing <br />not only dispatch but data information. <br />Mr. Voorde stated that he understands that there currently is a <br />problem with records and that this system will alleviate that <br />problem but also wondered if the City really needs this function <br />at this time. He further stated that he hopes that the City is <br />not doing anything at this time that will cost more money later <br />on and something that will make it more difficult to get the <br />county and Mishawaka to join the City in this endeavor of <br />computer aided dispatch. <br />Mr. Leszczynski reiterated a statement previously made by Mayor <br />Parent that the City will continue to do anything it can to <br />improve the present system. He further explained that with the <br />computer aided dispatch system in place, a records check that <br />previously took approximately thirty (30) minutes to complete <br />could be competed in a manner of seconds and further stated that <br />not only will the computer be able to decrease the time required <br />to perform a records check but will provide faster dispatches. <br />In response to a question from the media regarding the funding <br />for this computer aided dispatch system, Mr. Vance advised that <br />
