REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 29, 1987 <br />Section 2. The South Bend Board of Public Works agrees to <br />accept conveyance from the South Bend Redevelopment Commission of <br />the real property described in Section 1 hereof and to construct <br />and maintain a parking garage on that property consisting of <br />approximately 440 spaces, with construction to begin in early <br />1988. <br />Adopted at the September 25, 1987, meeting of the South Bend <br />Redevelopment Commission. <br />SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />s/F. Parmerlee, Clerk <br />In response to questions from the news media inquiring whether or <br />not the City intends to raise the fees charged in the parking <br />garages, Mr. Vance stated that with the whole parking emphasis <br />changing as it is, the City is looking into the rate structure. <br />Mr. Hunt informed the Board that it is possible that bidders will <br />ask the City for security. He stated that the three (3) funding <br />sources as indicated previously will pay for the garage and no <br />special bond will be needed. However, bidders may have some <br />questions about security behind those sources. Mr. Vance stated <br />that it will probably be no different than usual in that it will <br />be backed by the full faith and goodwill of the City. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - DE-ICING MATERIALS FOR THE SOUTH BEND STREET <br />DEPARTMENT) <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the above referred to materials. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following <br />bids were opened and publicly read: <br />INTERNATIONAL SALT COMPANY <br />Abington Executive Park <br />Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania <br />Bid was signed by Robert H. Jones, Manager -Highway Bidding <br />and Marketing, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a <br />Certified Check in the amount of $34,020.00 was submitted. <br />BID: <br />12,000 Tons Bulk Ice Control Rock Salt $28.35/ton = $340,200 <br />Truck Delivery <br />Minimum truckload - 21 tons <br />Terms of payment are net 30 days <br />from shipment. <br />Bulk rock salt will be treated with <br />an anti -caking agent. <br />International Salt will protect their <br />quoted price on deliveries prior to and <br />including 10/31/88 provided their quote <br />is accepted within 60 days from bid <br />opening date of 9/29/87. <br />
