�55 <br />REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 24, 1987 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:31 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 1987, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski and Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq <br />present. Board member Michael L. Vance was not in attendance. <br />Also present was Chief Deputy City Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the minutes of the August 19, 1987, regular meeting <br />of the Board were approved. <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ADDENDA <br />The following Community Development Addenda were presented to the <br />Board for approval: <br />ADDENDUM II <br />NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSING SERVICES <br />NHS HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS <br />Addendum II adds $22,400.00 to the Acquisition/Rehabilitation <br />Activity. <br />ADDENDUM I <br />COMMUNITY COORDINATED CHILD CARE <br />DAY CARE SUBSIDY ACTIVITY <br />Ms. Betsy Harriman, Office of Community Development, advised <br />that Addendum I adds $5,000.00 to the budget of this activity <br />for 1987. She further advised that this activity subsides <br />day care for Title XX eligible individuals. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the above Addenda were approved and executed. <br />APPROVE AGREEMENT - INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS (TRANSFER OF <br />SR 2 FROM MAYFLOWER TO INTERSECTION OF CHAPIN & SAMPLE) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Attorney John E. Jordan, Indiana <br />Department of Highways, 100 North Senate Avenue, Indianapolis, <br />Indiana, has submitted for Board approval an Agreement regarding <br />the transfer of existing State Road 2 from Mayflower Road to the <br />intersection of Chapin Street and Sample Street from State <br />jurisdiction to City of South Bend jurisdiction. <br />It was noted that on December 16, 1970 the City and State entered <br />into a Contract to establish one way streets for US 31 and US 33 <br />in South Bend and for the transfer of jurisdiction of some <br />sections of road. The original Contract was supplemented by a <br />document dated September 17, 1973. As conditions for the <br />transfer of existing State Road 2 (Western Avenue and Michigan <br />Street) have been met, the State has submitted the above referred <br />to revised Agreement which indicates that the State shall <br />transfer jurisdiction of existing State Road 2 (Western Avenue) <br />from the centerline of Mayflower Road to Chapin Street and <br />existing State Road 2 (Chapin Street) from Western Avenue to the <br />north right-of-way line of Sample Street at 12:01 a.m. eastern <br />standard time on October 1, 1987. Further, after October 1, <br />1987, the City shall provide all maintenance, reconstruction and <br />construction for the road transferred. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq <br />and carried, the Agreement as submitted was approved and <br />executed. <br />AWARD BID - VIRIDIAN DRIVE PHASE III PROJECT <br />Tn a letter to the Board, Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, <br />Division of Engineering, recommended that the Board award the low <br />bid of Rieth Riley Construction Company, Inc., P.O. Box 1775, <br />South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $107,215.84 for the above <br />
