<br />APPROVE CERTIFICATES OF SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION - STANLEY
<br />COVELESKI REGIONAL BASEBALL STADIUM PROJECT
<br />Mr. Leszczynski presented to the Board Certificates of
<br />Substantial Completion for the Stanley Coveleski Regional
<br />Baseball Stadium Project dated August 3, 1987 and August 13,
<br />1987. He stated that this indicates that the stadium is now
<br />ready for occupancy by the owners. There are several items which
<br />remain unfinished, such as minor clean-ups, and they are listed
<br />on the punch lists attached to the Certificates. Upon a motion
<br />made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried,
<br />the above referred to Certificates of Substantial Completion were
<br />approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF
<br />ABANDONED VEHICLES
<br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code
<br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of
<br />approximately nineteen (19) abandoned vehicles, which are being
<br />stored at Steve & Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109
<br />South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that
<br />all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days,
<br />identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners
<br />and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq,
<br />seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the above request was
<br />approved and a date of September 1, 1987, was established for the
<br />receiving and opening of sealed bids.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE THE 100 BLOCK OF ALTGELD STREET FOR NEIGHBORHOOD
<br />BLOCK PARTY_- SEPTEMBER 12, 1987 REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Pat Witucki, 122 East Altgeld
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the residents of the
<br />100 block of East Altgeld Street would like to close the street
<br />from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. on September 12, 1987 for a neighborhood
<br />block party. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by
<br />Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau
<br />of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic
<br />Division for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE EAST MONROE STREET BETWEEN TWYCKENHAM AND
<br />SUNNYSIDE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - AUGUST 29. 1987 -
<br />REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Sharon Konopka, 1346 East Monroe
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close East
<br />Monroe Street, between Twyckenham Drive and Sunnyside on August
<br />29, 1987, (raindate August 30, 1987), from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00
<br />midnight for a neighborhood block party. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the
<br />request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and
<br />the Police Department Traffic Division for review and
<br />recommendation.
<br />REQUEST OF A.B.A.T.E. OF INDIANA, INC. FOR TRAFFIC ASSISTANCE FOR
<br />ANNUAL M.D.A. RIDE_- SEPTEMBER 6, 1987 - REFERRED
<br />Mr. Dan Dunn, A.B.A.T.E. of Indiana, Region I Director, P.O. Box
<br />81, Granger, Indiana, advised that on Sunday, September 6, 1987,
<br />ABATE of Indiana, Region I, is having its annual M.D.A. ride. He
<br />stated that last year the ride donated $13,600 to M.D.A. from
<br />this community. The success of this ride was due to community
<br />support and the City's assistance with traffic control with the
<br />help of the County police, Civil Defense and Weather Watch.
<br />Therefore, for this years ride, they are again requesting
<br />assistance with traffic control on Sunday, September 6, 1987
<br />through the City of South Bend. This assistance will be needed
<br />from Ireland and U.S. 31 north on U.S. 31 to Cleveland and U.S.
<br />31.
