VIM <br />TRALALM <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 11, 1987 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO CLOSE 1300'BLOCK CATHERWOOD DRIVE FOR <br />NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY AUGUST 22, 1987 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the <br />above referred to request submitted to the Board on July 28, 1987 <br />and recommend approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. <br />DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the recommendation <br />was accepted and the request approved. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE 900 BLOCK OF 36TH STREET FOR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK <br />PARTY - SEPTEMBER 5, 1987 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mrs. Karla Bronicki, 930 South 36th <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested that the 900 block of 36th <br />Street, be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on September 5, <br />1987 for a neighborhood block party. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police <br />Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF P.N.A. #83 CLUB TO CONDUCT "WHAMMA JAM FOR M.D.A." - <br />SEPTEMBER 6, 1987 - REFERRED <br />Ms. Cindy L. Francis, Chairman, Whamma Jam for M.D.A., Police <br />National Alliance of the U.S.A., 2401 Western Avenue, South Bend, <br />Indiana, advised the Board that on behalf of the P.N.A. #83 Club <br />and members of the "Whamma Jam for M.D.A." (fundraiser for <br />Muscular Dystrophy), she is once again requesting permission for <br />members of the group to stand on the corners of Western Avenue <br />and Olive Street to solicit monetary donations for Muscular <br />Dystrophy during their two (2) day event. Ms. Francis requested <br />permission to conduct these intersection solicitations from 10:00 <br />a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 1987 and from 6:00 a.m. <br />to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 1987. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above <br />request was referred to the appropriate City departments and <br />bureaus for review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE 1300-1400 BLOCK OF EAST MONROE STREET FOR <br />NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY - AUGUST 29, 1987 - REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. F. Richard Pruess, 1420 East Monroe <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the residents of the <br />1300 and 1400 blocks of East Monroe Street will be holding a <br />block party on August 29, 1987 from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight <br />and would therefore request that East Monroe Street from <br />Twyckenham to Sunnyside be closed for this event. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the <br />request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and <br />the Police Department Traffic Division for review and <br />recommendation. <br />APPROVE RELEASE OF EXCAVATION BOND <br />Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that the <br />Excavation Bond for Hamstra Builders, Inc, be released effective <br />August 27, 1987. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by <br />Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above referred to Excavation Bond <br />was released. <br />FILING OF STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT <br />The report submitted to the Board indicated a total of one <br />hundred forty-eight (148) street light outages reported during <br />the month of July. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded <br />by Mr. Vance and carried, the report as submitted was filed. <br />
