Also, the appropriate Certificate of
Insurance has been submitted and is in order. Mr. Mathews,
therefore, recommended Board approval of the request as
submitted.
Mrs. DeClercq stated that the moving of these houses is in
conjunction with the construction of the U.S. 20 bybass.
Therefore-, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr.
Vance and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the
request approved.
FILING OF PETITION FOR INSTALLATION OF STREET LIGHT ON MAC ARTH
AVENUE - NEAR 2819 MAC ARTHUR
Mr. Vance stated that Ms. Ann Puzzello, Fourth District Council
Member, has submitted to the Board a Petition signed by
thirty-three (33) residents living around the area of MacArthur
Avenue near 2819 MacArthur. In a letter submitted with the
Petition, Ms. Puzzello states that there is insufficient street
lighting because of a curve on MacArthur which cuts off the
reflection from the corner light. She further advised that a
wooden pole is acceptable to the residents.
Mr. Vance advised Mrs. Puzzello, who was present at the meeting,
that typically these types of requests are referred to the Bureau
of Traffic and Lighting for review and recommendation.
Mrs. Puzzello informed the Board that the reasons the street
light is needed are because MacArthur is a long block that curves
and the street light placed at the corner does not provide
sufficient light, and also because MacArthur is across from
Edison Park which is occasionally utilized by undesirable
individuals in the evenings. Therefore, for the safety of the
single women, the elderly and all residents of MacArthur, Mrs.
Puzzello requested that the street light be installed.
Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance and
carried, the above referred to Petition was accepted for filing
and referred to the Department of Public Works for review.
REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND HOUSING AUTHORITY TO CLOSE 1600 BLOCK
CARLISLE STREET FOR BAZAAR - AUGUST 15, 1987 - REFERRED
In a letter to the Board, Ms. Shirley R.
