<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and
<br />carried, the above bids were referred to Fire Chief Luther Taylor
<br />for immediate review and recommendation in order that an award
<br />could be made prior to adjournment of the meeting.
<br />Following a fifteen (15) minute recess by the Board, Fire Chief
<br />Luther Taylor recommended that the award be made to McCoy Miller,
<br />Inc in the amount of $46,538.00.
<br />Chief Taylor advised that the bids of Excellance; Inc. and St.
<br />Ives, Inc. were lower but were contingent upon availability of
<br />the chassis. He also advised that the City is currently awaiting
<br />the delivery of an ambulance that was ordered last year from St.
<br />Ives as the chassis has been unavailable.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and
<br />carried, the recommendation was accepted and the bid awarded.

<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Elizabeth A. Cauley, 1118 Stanfield
<br />Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to close
<br />Stanfield Avenue between St. Vincent Street and Napoleon Street
<br />on Sunday, June 21, 1987 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for a
<br />neighborhood block party. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above request was
<br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police
<br />Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation.

<br />In a letter to the Board, Rev. F. Thomas Lallak, Pastor, St. Mary
<br />of the Assumption Church, 3402 South Locust Road, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, requested permission -to close a portion of Assumption
<br />Drive on Sunday, April 16, 1987 from 12:00 noon until 10:00 p.m.
<br />for the Annual Parish Festival.
<br />It is also being requested that the street be closed on Sunday,
<br />August 23, 1987 from 12:00 noon until 10:00 p.m. for the Annual
<br />Parish Picnic.
<br />Additionally, Rev. Lallak requested that Assumption Drive, behind
<br />the St. Mary of the Assumption School, be closed every day from
<br />11:15 a.m. until 12:00 noon, when school is in session.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Vance and
<br />carried, the above request was referred to the necessary City
<br />departments and bureaus for review and recommendation.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE 200 BLOCK OF HUEY STREET FOR FAMILY REUNION -
<br />JUNE 27, 1987 — REFERRED
<br />In a letter to the Board, Ms. Mary Doty, 235 North Huey Street,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, requested that the 200 block of Huey Street,
<br />from the corner of.Linden and Huey to the alley, be closed from
<br />10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 1987 for a family
<br />reunion. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs.
<br />DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of
<br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division
<br />for review and recommendation.
