F <br />REGULAR MEETING MAY 26. 1987 <br />REQUEST OF HOSPICE OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INC. TO CONDUCT 2ND <br />ANNUAL _WALK FOR HOSPICE- OCTOBER 11, 1987 — REFERRED <br />Mr. Thomas Burzynski, Executive Director, Hospice of St. Joseph <br />County, Inc., 902 East Cedar Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised <br />that Hospice will be conducting its second annual Walk for <br />Hospice on Sunday, October 11, 1987. The Walk will be a 17 <br />kilometer walk which would begin and end in Potawatomi Park. <br />Registration will begin at noon with the Walk starting at 1:00 <br />p.m. and ending by 5:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, <br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred <br />to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and <br />recommendation. <br />REQUEST OF PROGRESSIVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH TO CONDUCT <br />In a letter to the Board, Frances Herrell, President, Senior <br />Usher's of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 5922 York Road, <br />South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct a Christian <br />Walk-A-Thon on Saturday, June 13, 1987 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 <br />noon. The Walk will begin at the Church located at 1232 East <br />Bronson Street with approximately one hundred (100) individuals <br />participating. The route will be as follows: <br />North on Sunnyside Avenue to South Street <br />West on South Street to Eddy Street <br />North on Eddy Street to Corby Boulevard <br />East on Corby Boulevard to Ironwood Drive <br />South on Ironwood Drive to Mishawaka Avenue <br />West on Mishawaka Avenue to Twyckenham Drive <br />North on Twyckenham Drive to South Street <br />West on South Street to Sunnyside Avenue <br />South on Sunnyside Avenue to Progressive Missionary <br />Baptist Church <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for <br />review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE 900 BLOCK OF NORTH ADAMS STREET FOR ANNUAL BLOC <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Thomas Niemier, 927 North Wilber <br />Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the residents of the <br />900 block of North Adams Street would like to conduct their 6th <br />Annual Block Party on June 27, 1987 and would like the street <br />closed for this event from 12:00 noon until 10:00 p.m. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, <br />the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and <br />recommendation. <br />APPROVE ETHNIC FESTIVAL BOOTH APPLICATIONS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Michael L. Vance, Director, <br />Administration and Finance, has reviewed the Ethnic Festival <br />Booth applications as submitted by Ms. Denielle Baldwin, Office <br />of Community Affairs, and recommends approval of the following <br />applications: <br />FOOD BOOTHS - 39 booths (1 modified due to duplication) <br />Pilot Club of South Bend (Mrs. Ruth M. Hoover) <br />The Charcoal Grill (Bobby D. Basham) <br />Mill Street, Inc. (Robert Schmidt) <br />American Hallanic Educational Progressive Assoc. <br />Sati-Babi (Antonio Miranda) <br />Hogue Concessions (Robert Hogue) <br />
