F REGULAR MEETING MAY 26. 1987 REQUEST OF HOSPICE OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INC. TO CONDUCT 2ND ANNUAL _WALK FOR HOSPICE- OCTOBER 11, 1987 — REFERRED Mr. Thomas Burzynski, Executive Director, Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc., 902 East Cedar Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that Hospice will be conducting its second annual Walk for Hospice on Sunday, October 11, 1987. The Walk will be a 17 kilometer walk which would begin and end in Potawatomi Park. Registration will begin at noon with the Walk starting at 1:00 p.m. and ending by 5:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and recommendation. REQUEST OF PROGRESSIVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH TO CONDUCT In a letter to the Board, Frances Herrell, President, Senior Usher's of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 5922 York Road, South Bend, Indiana, requested permission to conduct a Christian Walk-A-Thon on Saturday, June 13, 1987 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. The Walk will begin at the Church located at 1232 East Bronson Street with approximately one hundred (100) individuals participating. The route will be as follows: North on Sunnyside Avenue to South Street West on South Street to Eddy Street North on Eddy Street to Corby Boulevard East on Corby Boulevard to Ironwood Drive South on Ironwood Drive to Mishawaka Avenue West on Mishawaka Avenue to Twyckenham Drive North on Twyckenham Drive to South Street West on South Street to Sunnyside Avenue South on Sunnyside Avenue to Progressive Missionary Baptist Church Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. REQUEST TO CLOSE 900 BLOCK OF NORTH ADAMS STREET FOR ANNUAL BLOC In a letter to the Board, Mr. Thomas Niemier, 927 North Wilber Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the residents of the 900 block of North Adams Street would like to conduct their 6th Annual Block Party on June 27, 1987 and would like the street closed for this event from 12:00 noon until 10:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation. APPROVE ETHNIC FESTIVAL BOOTH APPLICATIONS Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Michael L. Vance, Director, Administration and Finance, has reviewed the Ethnic Festival Booth applications as submitted by Ms. Denielle Baldwin, Office of Community Affairs, and recommends approval of the following applications: FOOD BOOTHS - 39 booths (1 modified due to duplication) Pilot Club of South Bend (Mrs. Ruth M. Hoover) The Charcoal Grill (Bobby D. Basham) Mill Street, Inc. (Robert Schmidt) American Hallanic Educational Progressive Assoc. Sati-Babi (Antonio Miranda) Hogue Concessions (Robert Hogue)
