STEPHEN'S PARISH FOR STREET CLOSURE IN CONJUNCTION
WITH PARISH SUMMER FESTIVAL - JULY 25-26, 1987 - REFERRED
Rev. Richard A. Laurick, Pastor, St. Stephen's Parish, 1102 West
Thomas Street, South Bend, Indiana, advised that the Parish will
be conducting its Parish Summer Festival on Sunday, July 26,
1987. In conjunction with said Festival, Rev. Laurick requested
that McPherson Street from Thomas to Napier be closed from
Saturday, July 25, 1987 at 3:00 p.m. through Sunday, July 26,
1987. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance
and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic
and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division for
review and recommendation.
REQUEST OF
CONJUNCTION
Mr. Jett 5choppe, 2216 Miami Street, South Bend, Indiana, on
behalf of the Miami Street Association, requested permission to
close Miami Street from Ewing to Bowman Street on July 23, 24 &
25, 1987 in conjunction with sidewalk days. Upon a motion made
by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance and carried, the request
was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police
Department Traffic Division for review and recommendation.
APPROVE LIMITED EASEMENT OVER BARTLETT STREET FOR THE
INSTALLATION OF A TELEPHONE LINE - MEMORIAL HEALTH PROPERTIES,
INC.
Mr. Leszczynski advised that on April 14, 1987, the Board denied
the request of Memorial Health Properties for a permanent
Easement over Bartlett Street for the installation of an overhead
telephone line.
At this time, however, it has been determined that a limited
Easement for a period of two (2) years could be granted. At the
end of that period, the telephone line would be installed
underground.
Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs.
DeClercq and carried, a limited two (2) year Easement was
approved.
APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - RUBBISH AND GARBAGE
Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following two (2) Rubbish and
Garbage license applications have been received:
1. Tommy Swinson
615 Wenger St., S.B.
2. Gene O'Connor
0756 N. Goldring Rd., LaPorte
It was noted that an inspection of the truck to be used by Tommy
Swinson has been conducted by the Solid Waste Bureau and the
applicant was found to be in compliance. Therefore, upon a
motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried,
the above license application was approved and referred to the
Deputy Controller's office for issuance of a license.
However, as the Board had questions and concerns regarding the
license application of Gene O'Connor and his out-of-town business
address, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs.
DeClercq and carried, the application was referred to the
Department of Code Enforcement for review and recommendation.
APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES
Upon a motion made by Mr. Vance, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and
carried, the following five (5) traffic control devices were
approved:
