REGULAR MEETING APRIL 28, 1987 <br />925 & 927 WEST OAK STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. & Mrs. Jeremiah White, 3111 <br />Council Oak Drive, have submitted a bid in the amount of <br />$50.00 for the property at 927 West Oak Street and a bid in <br />the amount of $50.00 for the property at 925 West Oak Street. <br />It was noted that the appraised value of the property at 925 <br />W. Oak Street is $210.00 and the appraised value of the <br />property at 927 Oak Street is $210.00. <br />Mr. Vance stated that in the past, as the Board has desired <br />one-half of the appraisal price, he would make a motion that <br />the offers be rejected. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the motion <br />and it carried. <br />After further consideration and discussion, Mr. Vance stated <br />that he would like to amend his prior motion and ask that the <br />Clerk communicate to Mr. & Mrs. White that the Board would <br />accept one-half the appraisal price ($105.00) for each of the <br />above referred to properties. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the <br />amended motion and it carried. <br />410 EAST SOUTH STREET <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that two (2) sealed bids for the <br />purchase of this property were received. He additionally <br />advised that this property is adjacent to property owned by <br />the, Department of Redevelopment and would therefore recommend <br />that the opening of the bids be tabled for one (1) week. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by <br />Mr. Vance and carried, the opening of bids was tabled for one <br />(1) week. <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 11-1987 - <br />DEALERS/TRANSFER STATION LICENSE APP <br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, <br />Enforcement, reminded members of the <br />1987, the Board recommended that the <br />Resources, Inc., 3113 South Gertrude <br />be approved. <br />NEW SCRAP METAL/JUNK <br />ICATIONS <br />Department of Code <br />Board that on March <br />license application <br />Street, South Bend, <br />17, <br />of Metal <br />Indiana, <br />On the recommendation of Councilman Thomas Zakrewski, that item <br />was stricken from the Common Council agenda until further study <br />of the matter could be conducted. It appears that there was some <br />confusion as to who was operating the business at that location. <br />Since that time, the City has met with the principals of Sturgis <br />Iron and Metal Company, Inc. who presently are negotiating for <br />the purchase of both Metal Resources properties at 1305 Prairie <br />Avenue and 3113 South Gertrude Street, which they plan to <br />operate. They have therefore submitted their applications for <br />consideration by the Board of Public Works and subsequent <br />consideration by the Common Council at their meeting to be held <br />on May 11, 1987. <br />Mrs. DeClercq made a motion that the Board approve Resolution No. <br />11-1987 as the Department of Code Enforcement and the Fire <br />Department Prevention Bureau have conducted inspections of the <br />premises of South Bend Scrap and Processing Division at 3113 <br />South Gertrude Street and 1305 Prairie Avenue and they have met <br />all ordinance requirements and that a favorable recommendation be <br />forwarded to the Common Council for the approval of 1987 licenses <br />for these companies. <br />She stated that should the purchase agreements not be worked out <br />prior to the May llth Common Council meeting the matter would be <br />continued at that time. Mrs. DeClercq stated that <br />representatives from the company were present at the Board <br />meeting today. They asked the Board for a favorable <br />recommendation. <br />I <br />1 <br />
