Lair
UNAZA
REGULAR MEETING
PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR:
MARCH 31, 1987
QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS REGARDING THE SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES
Mrs. Charles Teske, 54830 Pear Road, South Bend, Indiana,
inquired about the procedure utilized in selecting vehicles which
will be offered for sale through the abandoned vehicle sealed bid
process. She stated that in inspecting the vehicles located at
Steve and Gene's lot which the City is offering for sale she has
noticed vehicles that are not offered for sale to the public but
are given to Steve and Gene's. She inquired as to why Steve and
Gene's receives vehicles not offered for sale.
Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code
Enforcement, invited Mrs. Teske to join her after the meeting at
which time she will review the abandoned vehicle towing and
storage procedure with her. Mrs. DeClercq stated that some
procedures are determined by the terms of the Contract which the
City entered into with Steve and Gene's for the towing and
storage of abandoned vehicle. Mrs. Teske was told that vehicles
are determined either to be of value over one -hundred dollars
($100.00) or under one -hundred dollars ($100.00). Mrs. Teske
then inquired who determines that value. Mrs. DeClercq responded
that the value is determined when all pertinent paperwork
regarding the vehicle is completed by her Department.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a
motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and
carried, the meeting adjourned at 9:54 a.m.
-1) 1 MR " 0 NA, F_,A h. h. - 2 WN
, 1 04
•r,
Patricia E. • r
0--Im jt.k U01-1
Michael L. ance
ATTEST:
,ZJ6jx),
Sandra M.
