W <br />REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 27, 1987 <br />Additionally, Mr. Bodnar stated that Clayton Uniform Mfg., Co., <br />Inc., 59 American Drive, Norwood, Mass. has advised that they <br />decline to bid at this time. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded <br />by <br />Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above <br />bids were referred to <br />the <br />Deputy Controller's office for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE CONTRACT FOR ANIMAL CONTROL <br />AND SHELTER SERVICES - <br />HUMANE <br />SOCIETY OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY <br />Submitted to the Board for approval <br />was a Contract with the <br />Humane Society of St. Joseph County <br />for the period January <br />27, <br />1987 to December 31, 1988. <br />Deputy Mayor Craig Hartzer addressed the Board and asked for <br />their favorable consideration of the Contract as submitted. <br />It was noted that for the period January 27, 1987 through <br />December 31, 1987, the City agrees to pay the annual sum of <br />$132,500.00 to the Humane Society for services. For the year <br />1988, the City shall pay the annual sum of $142,000.00. <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr. Vance and <br />carried, the Contract as submitted was approved and executed. <br />Mrs. Theresa Lacopo of the Humane Society of St. Joseph County <br />thanked members of the Board and Deputy Mayor Hartzer for their <br />hard work in negotiating this Contract. She stated that the <br />Society intends to work very hard to show the City that it has <br />placed their faith with the right group to handle these services. <br />APPROVE RAILROAD AGREEMENT - LOGAN STREET GRAND TRUNK WESTERN <br />RAILROAD CROSSING <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Indiana Department of Highways <br />has submitted a Railroad Agreement as it relates to the <br />reconstruction of the grade crossing and installation of active <br />warning devices at the Logan Street - Grand Trunk Western <br />Railroad grade crossing in South Bend. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Vance, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above referred <br />to Agreement was approved and executed. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq, Director, Department of Code <br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of <br />approximately seventeen (17) abandoned vehicles, which are being <br />stored at Steve & Gene's Auto & Truck Salvage and Repair, 3109 <br />South Gertrude Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that <br />all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, <br />identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners <br />and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, <br />seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the above request was <br />approved and a date of February 10, 1987, was established for the <br />receiving and opening of sealed bids. <br />REQUEST FOR DESIGNATED HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACE - 229 SOUTH <br />FRAN(RR RTRRRT - PWV-'7?VWn <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. & Mrs. John Benson, 229 South <br />Frances Street, South Bend, Indiana, requested that the parking <br />space in front of their residence be designated as a handicapped <br />parking space. The Bensons stated that they live in a business <br />area and have difficulty parking in front of their home. Because <br />Mr. Benson walks with a cane, he has a very difficult time when <br />he cannot park in front of his residence. Therefore, upon a <br />
