The second location is
at the corner of Saint Louis and Corby streets. Both signs will
be mounted on eight (8) foot wooden polls. The signs themselves
will have the title "Weekend Wheels" on them along with the
schedule for that particular stop.
Ms. Callery also informed the Board that in the winter of 1986,
one of their school mates was killed as a result of a
drunk -driving incident. In the wake of this tragedy, the Notre
Dame Hall Presidents' Counsel decided to take action to try and
prevent such occurrences in the future. As a result of their
hard work and dedication, "Weekend Wheels" was born. The
"Weekend Wheels" service is offered to Notre Dame and St. Mary's
students every weekend night that school is in session. It
offers students an alternative means of transportation to their
homes and serves as a deterrent to drunk driving. The bus makes
five (5) stops, two (2) on the Notre Dame Campus, one (1) at
Irishway apartments and two (2) in the City of South Bend. This
year the "Weekend Wheels" will begin service on October 28,
1988.
Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mrs.
DeClercq and carried, the request was referred to the
appropriate City departments and bureaus for review and
recommendation.
APPROVE APPLICATIONS FOR BIDDER QUALIFICATION
Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Affirmative Action Review
Committee has recommended that the following applications for
bidder qualification as submitted be approved:
1.
