<br />Salt Sales, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a
<br />Proposal Bond in the amount of $28,100.00 was submitted.
<br />BID: 12,000 tons de-icing materials Bulk Rock Salt
<br />$23.40 = $280,800.00
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that it appears that prices submitted
<br />today are approximately fifteen per cent (15%) higher than those
<br />received last year for these de-icing materials. He also noted
<br />that approximately $225,000.00 was spent last year for de-icing
<br />materials. Mr. James Wensits, Reporter, South Bend Tribune,
<br />inquired if the higher cost of de-icing materials this year will
<br />put a constraint on the City's budget and whether the City can
<br />afford the extra cost. Ms. Humphreys responded by advising that
<br />the City will be able to handle the additional cost.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq
<br />and carried, the above bids were referred to the Street
<br />Department for review and recommendation.
<br />APPROVE AGREEMENT FOR USE OF PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR FOOT RACES
<br />AND SIMILAR EVENTS - 3RD ANNUAL WALK FOR HOSPICE - OCTOBER 16
<br />1988
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that pursuant to Resolution No. 9-1985,
<br />establishing policies and fees for foot races and similar events,
<br />adopted by the Board of Public Works on March 4, 1985, Hospice of
<br />St. Joseph County, Inc., has fulfilled resolution requirements
<br />and the appropriate Agreement is being submitted at this time for
<br />approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the Agreement as submitted
<br />was approved and executed.
<br />AWARD BID - OLD FREDRICKSON PROPERTY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
<br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director,
<br />Division of Engineering, recommended that the Board award the low
<br />bid of L.L. Geans & Sons, Inc., 56535 Magnetic Drive, Mishawaka,
<br />Indiana, in the amount of $14,319.43 for the above referred to
<br />project. Mr. Leszczynski advised that bids for this project were
<br />opened by the Board on October 3, 1988. He further advised that
<br />this project entails the installation of curbs, sidewalks and
