REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 10, 1988 The regular meeting of the Board 9:35 a.m. on Monday, October 10, Leszczynski with Mr. Leszczynski, Ms. Katherine Humphreys present. Attorney Jenny Pitts-Manier. of Public Works was convened at 1988 by Board President John E. Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq and Also present was Assistant City APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Public Works held on October 3, 1988 were approved. OPENING OF BIDS - DE-ICING MATERIALS FOR SOUTH BEND STREET DEPARTMENT This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to materials. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. Mr. Leszczynski stated that Liquid Calcium Chloride Sales, Inc., P.O. Box 215, Kawkawlin, Michigan, advised that they decline to bid at this time. The following bids were opened and publicly read: THE LEVY COMPANY, INC. P.O. Box 540 Portage, Indiana 46368 Bid was signed by Martin R. Norville, Vice -President, Sales/ Marketing, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 10% Bid Bond was submitted. BID: Up to 10,000 Tons Calcium Chloride Slag Sand Mixture $13.40/ton Delivered to any location as designated by the City of South Bend Street Department PIERCETON EQUIPMENT COMPANY, INC. P.O. Box 233 Laketon, Indiana 46943 Bid was signed by David J. Nicol, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a 10% Bid Bond was submitted. BID: 100,000 Gallons Liquid Calcium Chloride 32% Solution LIQUIDOW .3495 = $34,950.00 INTERNATIONAL SALT COMPANY Abington Executive Park Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania 18411 Bid was signed by Robert H. Jones, Manager, Highway Bidding and Marketing, Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order and a Certified Check in the amount of $35,952.00 was submitted. BID: 12,000 tons Bulk Ice Control Rock Salt $29.96 per ton = $359,520.00 Truck Delivery - Minimum truckload - 21 tons Terms of Payment are net 30 days from shipment. Bulk rock salt will be treated with an anti -caking agent. Rock Salt is mined in the USA by American labor. International Salt will protect the quoted price on deliveries prior to and including 10/31/89 provided their quote is accepted within 30 days from the bid opening date of 10/10/88.
