REGULAR MEETING JULY 25. 1988 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:33 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 1988, by Board President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq and <br />Ms. Katherine Humphreys present. Also present was Assistant City <br />Attorney Marva J. Leonard -Dent. <br />ANNOUNCEMENT OF SPECIAL MEETING DATE <br />Mr. Leszczynski announced that there will be a Special Meeting of <br />the Board of Public Works on July 26, 1988 at 9:30 a.m. in regard <br />to Tax Anticipation Time Warrants. <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms. Humphreys <br />and carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of the Board held <br />on July 18, 1988 were approved. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - ALLEY VACATIONS: 1ST N/S ALLEY W. OF <br />PORTAGE AVE. RUNNING N. FROM KINGIFOR APPROX. 118 FT. TO THE 14 <br />FT. ALLEY; ALSO THE 1ST E/W ALLEY N. OF KING ST. RUNNING W. FROM <br />PORTAGE AVE. FOR A DISTANCE OF APPROX. 154 FT. TO 14 FT. ALLEY <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that pursuant to the action of the Board <br />on July 18, 1988, members conducted a site inspection of the <br />alleys to be vacated as indicated above. Based on that <br />inspection, Mr. Leszczynski stated he could see no reason why the <br />alleys should not be vacated as requested. Ms. Humphreys stated <br />that she had no objections to the vacation subject to making sure <br />that the residents who now have access to their driveways will <br />continue to have access if the alleys are vacated, as stated by <br />representatives from lst Source Bank at the Board's Public <br />Hearing held on July 11, 1988. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. <br />Humphreys and carried, the Clerk was instructed to forward to the <br />Common Council a favorable recommendation on the above referred <br />to alley vacations subject to any and all utility easements and <br />subject to residents being allowed continued access to their <br />garages. <br />OPENING OF PROPOSALS - SYSTEM FOR SOUND REINFORCEMENT FOR THE <br />MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the <br />opening of Proposals to provide a complete and satisfactory <br />system for sound reinforcement for the Morris Civic Auditorium, <br />211 North Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana. <br />The following Proposals were opened and read: <br />AUDIO EXPERTS INTERNATIONAL, INC. <br />407 East Center Road <br />Kokomo, Indiana 46902 <br />Proposal was submitted by Philip D. Mitchell, President, <br />in the amount of $18,965.00. <br />AUDIO SERVICES COMPANY, INC. <br />ASC RECORDING/PRO SOUND <br />511 E. Colfax Avenue <br />South Bend, Indiana 46617-2715 <br />Proposal was submitted by Philip L. Ostrander, President, <br />in the amount of $24,599.24 <br />
