REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 27, 1988 <br />1 <br />1 <br />close the 1300 block of Altgeld Street, between Leer and Clyde <br />Streets on July 4, 1988 from 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight, as <br />submitted by Ms. Janice McCurdie, 1307 East Altgeld Street, were <br />not previously submitted to the Board for referral because they <br />were recently received but they have been reviewed by the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting and Police Department Traffic Division <br />and recommended for approval. <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mr. <br />Leszczynski and carried, the recommendations were accepted and <br />the requests approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF OUR LADY OF HUNGARY HOME AND SCHOOL <br />ASSOCIATION TO CLOSE PORTION OF SOUTH CHAPIN STREET IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH SCHOOL FUN FAIR - JULY 30, 1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the <br />above referred to request submitted to the Board on May 23, 1988 <br />and recommend approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was <br />accepted and the request approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL <br />CHILD SAFETY COUNCIL TO CONDUCT INTERSECTION SOLICITATIONS - JULY <br />9, 1988 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the <br />above referred to request submitted to the Board on June 20, <br />1988. Based on the concerns of both the Bureau and the Police <br />Department that solicitors stay on the sidewalks and do not enter <br />the street for solicitations, this request was approved subject <br />to all solicitations taking place from the sidewalk on corner <br />areas only. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the request was approved <br />subject to the sponsors soliciting from the sidewalks only. <br />APPROVE REQUEST FOR FLAT RATE PARKING FEE FOR ETHNIC FESTIVAL - <br />JULY 2-3, 1988 <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office <br />of Community Affairs, requested permission to provide parking at <br />both municipal garages for a flat rate of $1.00 per day on <br />Saturday and Sunday, July 2 & 3, 1988 during the Ethnic <br />Festival. Upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mr. <br />Leszczynski and carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVE AND/OR RELEASE CONTRACTORS AND EXCAVATION BONDS <br />Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that the <br />following Excavation and Contractors Bonds be approved and/or <br />released as indicated below: <br />EXCAVATION <br />- Michiana Sewer Service Release Eff. 7/13/88 <br />CONTRACTORS <br />- Lucio Ortiz Approve Retro. to 6/21/88 <br />- Thomas J. Millard Approve Retro. to 6/17/88 <br />- Jerry Bryant, d/b/a Approve Retro. to 6/20/88 <br />J.W. Bryant Custom Concrete <br />Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. <br />Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the <br />bonds approved and/or released as indicated above. <br />
