REGULAR MEETING JUNE 27, 1988 1 1 close the 1300 block of Altgeld Street, between Leer and Clyde Streets on July 4, 1988 from 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight, as submitted by Ms. Janice McCurdie, 1307 East Altgeld Street, were not previously submitted to the Board for referral because they were recently received but they have been reviewed by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and Police Department Traffic Division and recommended for approval. Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the recommendations were accepted and the requests approved. APPROVE REQUEST OF OUR LADY OF HUNGARY HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION TO CLOSE PORTION OF SOUTH CHAPIN STREET IN CONJUNCTION WITH SCHOOL FUN FAIR - JULY 30, 1988 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to the Board on May 23, 1988 and recommend approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the request approved. APPROVE REQUEST OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL CHILD SAFETY COUNCIL TO CONDUCT INTERSECTION SOLICITATIONS - JULY 9, 1988 Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Division have reviewed the above referred to request submitted to the Board on June 20, 1988. Based on the concerns of both the Bureau and the Police Department that solicitors stay on the sidewalks and do not enter the street for solicitations, this request was approved subject to all solicitations taking place from the sidewalk on corner areas only. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the request was approved subject to the sponsors soliciting from the sidewalks only. APPROVE REQUEST FOR FLAT RATE PARKING FEE FOR ETHNIC FESTIVAL - JULY 2-3, 1988 In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mikki Dobski, Director, Office of Community Affairs, requested permission to provide parking at both municipal garages for a flat rate of $1.00 per day on Saturday and Sunday, July 2 & 3, 1988 during the Ethnic Festival. Upon a motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the request was approved. APPROVE AND/OR RELEASE CONTRACTORS AND EXCAVATION BONDS Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that the following Excavation and Contractors Bonds be approved and/or released as indicated below: EXCAVATION - Michiana Sewer Service Release Eff. 7/13/88 CONTRACTORS - Lucio Ortiz Approve Retro. to 6/21/88 - Thomas J. Millard Approve Retro. to 6/17/88 - Jerry Bryant, d/b/a Approve Retro. to 6/20/88 J.W. Bryant Custom Concrete Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the bonds approved and/or released as indicated above.
