REGULAR MEETING
JUNE 6, 1988
above referred to project is $408,000.00 which shall be funded
100% with federal funds.
Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms.
Humphreys and carried, the letter of assurances and Agreement
were approved and executed.
LUTION NO. 15-1988 - DISPOSAL OF OBSOLETE EQUIPMENT
(STREET DEPARTMENT)
Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Bill Penn, Director, Division of
Transportation, requests permission to dispose of three (3)
above -ground steel storage tanks with an approximate capacity of
five thousand (5,000) gallons. Mr. Penn stated that these tanks
serve no useful purpose anymore and the area they occupy is
needed for other storage purposes. Mr. Leszczynski further
advised that these tanks have not been used for over five (5)
years and were previously used for alley oil and emulsion
products for street paving. Due to the current practice of going
to the distributor for materials instead of storing materials on
site, the tanks are no longer required.
Mr. Leszczynski therefore made a motion that Mr. Penn be granted
permission to dispose of this obsolete equipment and that
Resolution No. 15-1988 be adopted. Mrs. DeClercq seconded the
motion, it carried, and the following Resolution No. 15-1988 was
adopted:
RESOLUTION NO. 15-1988
WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-1-11-6 permits and establishes
procedure for disposal of personal property which is unfit for
the purpose for which it was intended which is no longer needed
by the City.
WHEREAS, the following Street Department equipment is unfit
and no longer needed by the City of South Bend:
Three (3) Above Ground Steel Storage Tanks
Approximate Capacity of Five Thousand (5,000) Gallons
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works
of the City of South Bend that each item of the equipment listed
above is no longer needed by the City and is unfit for the
purpose for which it was intended and has an estimated value of
less than $500.00 and that all of the equipment listed above has
a total estimated value of less than $1,000.00.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said equipment be disposed of
and removed from the City Inventory.
ADOPTED this 6th day of June, 1988.
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
s/John E. Leszczynski
s/Patricia E. DeClercq
s/Katherine Humphreys
ATTEST:
s/Sandra M. Parmerlee, Clerk
REQUEST FOR FOUR-WAY STOP SIGN AT INTERSECTION OF CEDAR STREET
AND NOTRE DAME AVENUE - REFERRED
In a letter to the Board, Mr. Thomas Burzynski, Executive
Director, Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc., advised that the
intersection of Cedar Street and Notre Dame Avenue is the scene
of numerous accidents during the year. It is a two-way stop for
persons on Cedar Street. However, many of these drivers must
presume it is a four-way stop and thus involve themselves in
1
1
