REGULAR MEETING
MAY 9, 1988
well as the fact that the Department of Code Enforcement has
conducted hearings regarding the property at 1303-05 Marietta
which is directly across from Mr. Lee's residence.. She further
stated that the hearings have been held for zoning and
environmental violations relating to Mr. Lee's trash hauling
business which he has been conducting without a license. Also,
he has been using a "B" residential lot for the parking of his
trash trucks and the storing of other rubbish and garbage related
to the conduct of his business. As this is a residential lot,
use of this property for his hauling business is prohibited.
Mrs. DeClercq noted that Mr. Lee attempted to have the property
rezoned to "D" light industrial but his petition was denied by
the City Council.
Mrs. DeClercq stated that therefore it is the opinion of the
Department of Code Enforcement that, by granting a license the
continued operation of his trash business would be condoned.
She therefore made a motion that the license application as
submitted be denied. Mr. Leszczynski seconded the motion and it
carried.
APPROVE CONTRACTORS BONDS
Mr. Melvin Humphrey, Engineering Department, recommended that the
following Contractors Bonds be approved as indicated below:
- Stephen Thies Eff. retroactive to 4/29/88
- Louis Dean Spaid d/b/a Dean's
Concrete and Landscaping Eff. retroactive to 5/2/88
Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Ms. Humphreys
and carried, the above Contractors Bonds were approved.
APPROVE CLAIMS
Chief Deputy City Controller John D. Leisenring, submitted Claim
Docket No. 7745 through Claim Docket No. 7961 and recommended
approval. Upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Mr.
Leszczynski and carried, the claims were approved and the report
filed.
PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR:
INQUIRY OF CAFETERIA BENEFITS PLAN
Mr. James Wensits, South Bend Tribune Reporter, inquired of the
Board the status of the Proposals received for the Cafeteria
Benefits Plan. Ms. Humphreys advised Mr. Wensits that she will
be meeting with Crowe Chizek sometime this week and will then
finish her internal review.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a
motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and
carried, the meeting adjourned at 9:52 a.m.
qJn E. Leszczyn
Patribia E. DeClerca
ATT ST:
Sandra M. Parmerlee, Clerk
1
1
